This week is hospital week! Join us in celebrating our incredible hospital and health center staff who work together to provide critical access to quality care to our communities. No matter what area they work in, everyone at MDI Hospital is a part of a team that works together. Our doctors, nurses, and clinical staff couldn't provide a high level of care without our nutrition services, security, engineering, and environmental staff. Our administrators couldn't perform their roles without input and guidance from our medical teams and frontline staff. It takes a lot of diverse people and roles to make a hospital function day in and day out, and we are appreciative for every member of our team. Happy #HospitalWeek! #healthcare #hospital #mdi #mdihospital #ruralhealthcare #barharbor #maine

💚 Attention Managers, Area/Regional Managers, and Directors of Residential and Nursing Homes! As the demand for personalised care in residential and nursing homes continues to grow, I would like to know: What do you think has the greatest impact on improving the quality of care for patients and residents? 1. CQC Communication and Standards: Clear and consistent communication from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) regarding standards and expectations, providing guidance and clarity to care providers. 2. Staff Training and Education: Upskilling staff to enhance their understanding of complex care needs and management. 3. Use of Technology: Leveraging tools such as Medication Management Systems or Patient Record Management Systems to boost efficiency, improve accuracy, and save time, allowing staff to dedicate more attention to patients/residents. 4. Staffing Levels: Ensuring optimal staffing levels to provide more one-on-one time with residents, reducing employee stress and improving individualised care. I'm really interested in getting your thoughts and insights on this! #Healthcare #ElderCare #NursingHomes #ResidentialCare #CareQuality #StaffTraining #HealthcareTechnology #CQCStandards #CareManagement #QualityCare #HealthcareLeadership

As we navigate the post-pandemic recovery in healthcare, the importance of a robust and diverse nursing workforce cannot be overstated. Integrating international direct-hire nurses is not just about filling gaps—it's about enriching our care capabilities with a global perspective. I'm looking forward to discussing how these strategies can be implemented effectively to enhance patient care and staff satisfaction.
As hospitals seek to expand services and specialty areas in the years ahead, one major challenge remains from the pandemic era: creating a sustainable nursing workforce. At next week's American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA) conference in Fort Worth, our very own Kara Murphy will be leading a Rapid Fire session alongside Caitlyn Obrock from SSM Health. We’ll discuss how SSM took a fresh look at their needs and developed a truly diversified staffing solution – one with international direct-hire nurses from PRS as a cornerstone. Innovative workforce solutions are crucial to delivering quality patient care. Join us to learn the key success factors when creating an international direct-hire program, and hear Caitlyn’s advice on taking a fresh approach to one of healthcare’s biggest challenges. Join us at Noon on Monday, April 15th in the Exhibit Theater for our Rapid Fire session! #ashhra #ashhra24

Yesterday, an article highlighted a concerning shortage of nurses in the aged care sector, with a potential deficit of 5430 professionals. Ensuring the health and readiness of this critical workforce is paramount. Gangi Germicidal Systems has been contracted to deliver a significant project with the Victorian Department of Health to install light-based air disinfection systems in 30 aged care homes, amounting to a $16.8 million initiative. These systems play a vital role in curbing the spread of diseases among residents and the dedicated workforce. Looking ahead, Lindo will take charge of designing, installing, and maintaining these crucial systems to safeguard the health of patients, residents, and the workforce. A heathy workforce is paramount to maintain the care of the residents within aged care and patients within healthcare. Many years ago, deep in hospital operations and clinical quality improvement, I came to think of the agency nursing model like the unemployment rate - even when our health system is at it's healthiest, could we ever be at zero? This is a short, thoughtful piece from the CBC/Radio-Canada on the prevalence of agency nursing. It highlights the nuances of staffing needs in remote/rural environments, the gender and hierarchy of this important profession, as well as some of the important strategies that are underway (such as nurse-to-patient ratio) to help better manage the risks (financial, quality, culture). #nursetopatientratio #nursingleaderhip #clinicalstaffing #healthqualityimprovement #healthsystemsustainability #clinicalculture https://lnkd.in/eNNhsyg9

Private Duty Home Care is an often overlooked but fast-growing market. The market value of Private Duty services stood at almost $610 billion in 2023. That value is set to grow 7% by 2032, leaving it at a whopping $1176 billion. This growth is due to senior population growth, rising demand for personalized care, and advancements in medical technology which allow skilled services to be tracked and delivered at the patient’s home. Real-time monitoring is an essential piece of this puzzle. #homecare #privateduty #privatedutynursing #hcbs #personalcare #homehealth #homehealthcare #homehealthcareproviders #homecareagency #homecaresoftware #healthcaresolutions #healthcare https://lnkd.in/gbsbCehV

Are your hospital administrators wearing scrubs? The power of presentation. When hospital administrators or practice administrators are seen wearing scrubs, it can communicate a sense of authority to patients. This concept, known as robed cognition, highlights the power of presentation in inspiring confidence in both patients and healthcare providers themselves. It's worth considering whether the way we present ourselves in the healthcare field has an impact on patient outcomes and our own self-confidence. By paying attention to our attire and demeanor, we can create a more positive and trustworthy environment for all involved. Watch this video to learn more about the significance of presentation in healthcare and how it can influence perceptions and outcomes. Sarah Samaan, MD, FACC, FACP, FASE is a retired cardiologist. Rural hospital closures have posed challenges in the delivery of health care services in rural areas. Nearly 20% of Americans live in rural areas and rely on hospitals as their only source of health care. #GWNursing Tenured Associate Professor Asefeh Faraz Covelli, PhD, APRN, FNP-BC, FAANP recently co-published a research article in Health Economics on the effect of rural hospital closures on nearby hospitals' nurse staffing levels and health care utilization. “You want me to ask my community staff to add an up to 90-minute meeting to their week?! Really!&*” I often encounter this reaction when I introduce the concept of HigherPath Care Coordination Councils to operators interested in the Value-Based Care Alliance of Virginia. But hear me out: It’s actually a brilliant way to SAVE your staff time AND take better care of residents. The HigherPath meetings are weekly, up to 90-minute in-person gatherings of interdisciplinary care teams. This includes the executive director, nursing, activities, and sales directors, along with external providers like rehab and primary care specialists. These sessions have a clear agenda for discussing resident issues, reviewing actions from prior meetings, and ensuring no resident needs are overlooked. Nursing directors report saving 4-6 hours weekly on coordination and calls thanks to these meetings. And those aren't the only big improvements: - A 10% reduction in weekly ER visits - A 55% decrease in falls resulting in injury - Medication errors eliminated entirely - A 25% increase in resident satisfaction - Over a 100% boost in staff happiness Is all that worth 90 minutes? I’d say so. Wanna know how to bring this to your communities? DM me and let’s talk. #valuebasedcare #worksmarter #seniorliving
