I had a prescreening call with a candidate yesterday. He mentioned he was interested in a few LinkedIn roles but didn’t apply because each had over 100+ applicants already. As a recruiter, I can tell you that number can be misleading - it's NOT accurate. The actual number of applicants is much less. 💭 Many candidates won’t meet all the requirements or have the necessary security clearance. We are in week 28. I have been looking for a role since week 2. My last role concluded at the end of week 8. Application count: ~300 Email responses (rejections) ~54 (?) Interviews: 5 Bespoke resumes? Yes. Bespoke cover Letters? Yes. Do I know what I am doing any longer? No. "Imposter syndrome" is eroding every effort. Even going into an interview at this rate... it is taking EVERYTHING I have just to put on a happy face. And my [opposite of a] poker face tells my story before I introduce myself. I am at the point where I question my ability to succeed. I used to be a great investigator. I used to be a wizard at conducting investigative interviews as I closed security gaps. I used to train other investigators. I used to be amazing at making the technical cybersecurity training simple and applicable, even for the most technically challenged (because I am not a technologist, either). I know... it's not attractive to come onto this professional social media network and whine. To publicly embarrass myself. I am combusting like a book of matches under the rays of the Florida summer sun. Pride? Dignity? I am not sure those have stuck around at this point. I am still reaching out to this network for any "open position" leads. I am hoping that someone has a contact with a TA/Recruiter that is actively looking to fill real positions (not "ghost jobs"). 😩 I have a cat that likes to eat. Don't let her starve.

This resume tip will 100% get you a job offer immediately! Here is the simple tip that she shared. Don't: Add white text at the bottom of your resume to fool the ATS.
