Applications for global ambassadorship of inspiring and educating youth in space are 🆙 So is the application for the non-paying, voluntary mentor role to help youth build a space tech/research project. You don't need experience innovating in space-related stuff, but you do need some high-quality, consistent experience innovating tech/doing research. Here's our Linktree for applications: https://lnkd.in/eZXDkABS To tackle the change to the mentor role being non-paying, we are making pre-made presentations that mentors can personalize, reducing class sizes to nine students per mentor, and not requiring any workshop hours other than demo week during this application season. Additionally, during the four weeks mentees start building their projects, mentors are only required to give feedback every two days. Additionally, we are allowing mentors access to our network of space innovators forever and they will be featured on our website and social media so mentors can build their brand. 📅 Mentors are still required to stay with us all ten months, though they are not required to participate all ten months (it depends on your availability and how many mentors we need!!). 📅 🏆 Participating as a mentor makes you automatically nominated for our Youth Space Leader Awards which is given bi-yearly in January and June... an initiative in the works that was inspired by our partner, the Women's Aerospace Network's The Women's Space Awards. 🏆

Education isn't just about classrooms. It's the heartbeat of thriving communities. As founder of The Ohio Education Foundation, I've seen firsthand how learning transforms lives: • STEM programs in underserved schools → students pursuing tech careers • Adult literacy classes → increased job readiness and civic engagement • Community learning centers → hubs of lifelong growth and connection But here's the real power: educated individuals become community catalysts. They start businesses. They volunteer. They innovate solutions to local challenges. It's a beautiful cycle of empowerment. What's one way education has strengthened your community? #CommunityDevelopment #EducationImpact #socialsonic

I completed the work week spending time in Lansing with the MOST (Michigan Out-of-School Time) committee and I’m feeling #inspired. Today we focused on the theme of belonging. How are we making a space of belonging for the youth that we serve? What does it feel like to belong? How do we #engage the whole family in our programming? It is a continuous process of #reflecting and adjusting programs to ensure we remain relevant and #impactful. #Question for you: what makes you feel like you belong?

🌟 Celebrating Superheroes and Neurodiversity in Education! 🚀 Today in 1938, Superman flew into our lives faster than a speeding bullet! 🦸♂️ Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, he showed us the power of embracing diversity. Comic books teach us that even superheroes can feel out of place in society at times. But just like them, neurodiverse children have the potential to amaze us all! Let's create a space where they can showcase their talents and strengths, and surprise us with their incredible abilities. Whether it's the math whiz, the art aficionado, or the tech genius, neurodiverse students bring their own superpowers to the table. As educators, it's our mission to create inclusive spaces where every student feels valued and supported. So here's to the superheroes in our classrooms! Let's celebrate their uniqueness, uplift their strengths, and empower them to shine brightly in their own special way! 🌟 #NeurodiversityInEducation #InclusiveLearning #SuperheroesInEducation #DiversityandInclusion

Debates around the cultural survival practice of code-switching, or using professional voice, abound. It’s important to understand that those who code-switch do so for cultural and career survival - but can often not avoid microaggressions. Here is my personal story now on CRN about how microaggressions and microinvalidations start and the impact they can have - emotionally, psychologically, and organizationally. #microaggressions #EquityAndInclusion #InclusiveLeadership

Producer @ Lockton | Helping clients take on risk with confidence | Passionate about delivering great experiences
Imagine a world where words remain locked away, unexplored. I took my daughter to her school play, 'Matilda the Musical', which stirred something within me as I reflected on a prior meeting earlier that week. As many of you know, a key theme in Matilda is the transformative power of books and the limitless possibilities that come from literacy. Just a few days prior, I attended a Working in the Schools (WITS) meeting. A striking reality unfolded - in the heart of Chicago countless children without books, without stories to dive into, worlds to explore, or dreams to ignite. While entities like WITS and leaders like Tena Latona tirelessly strive to bridge this chasm, the magnitude of this task dwarfs any individual organization's capacity. The absence of reading material is not just about the physical books; it's about what those books represent—access to endless possibilities, pathways to understanding complex concepts, and the foundation for strong writing and comprehension skills. As we navigate a world increasingly dominated by digital noise, the importance of reading from an early age cannot be overstated. It's the building block for all future learning, a critical element in developing the ability to think critically, write effectively, and understand the world around us. Yet, here we stand, facing a pivotal moment. The question isn't just how we address this gap in access to books and literacy resources; it's about recognizing our role in shaping a future where every child has the opportunity to explore, learn, and dream. This is a call to action. Find opportunities in your community to support literacy. Whether it's mentoring or providing access to books, your involvement can spark a change. Together, we can unlock the world of words for every child, building a foundation that not only supports academic achievement but also fosters a lifelong love for reading. Let's turn the page on literacy. Your next step could open up a universe of possibilities for a child in need. #windowsmirrorsslidingglassdoors #WITS #youarenotalone

UX/Product Designer with a passion for research & discovery. Advocate for accessible, inclusive experiences. Background in FinTech, Pharma & Healthcare.
Just finished my first Mouse Mentor virtual classroom visit to Bronx International High School and am VERY impressed with the students! I talked about my (winding, lengthy) career journey and the students asked only 2 questions: "How does not doing enough research or the right research effect your design?" "What makes meetings challenging and how do you deal with the challenge?" So smart, and so mature, right? I could have been at a professional meetup talking about just those subjects! I do hope the students got as much out of the visit as I did. Please support Mouse.org to help these students grow their design careers, there's usually a design competition in the late spring and it's so easy to be a judge (virtual), and so fullfilling. Seriously, the solutions will make your heart explode. And bilingual designers are a big help. Come on my people, I know you're out there! #designthinking #uxdesign #uxresearch #mentoring #biglove
