The robotic journey: how have industrial robots changed in the last 25 years? On the left is a stand-alone robot at the Robotics Research Center, Nanyang Technological University, when I was a research student in 1999! On the right is a robot today at the Smart Factory setup, Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing, Indian Institute of Science. The visit to CPDM at IISc covered several examples of robotic applications and associated technologies. Here are some differences between robots then and now: - Connected to the enterprise - Robots are no longer islands of automation inside a cage, only for productivity. They are ‘connected’ with IoT and integrated to the rest of the shop floor and the enterprise too for flexibility, thanks to IT-OT integration and Industry 4.0 initiatives. - Cobot not Robot – today’s robots are not only for productivity, but for safety too, working in collaboration with humans and ergonomic in structure. - Digital twins are commonly used to create virtual replicas of robots for their real-time simulation, to carry what-if types of analyses, and even to control robots remotely. - Offline robot programming tools to train them are more popular along with haptics, AR/VR now, with computing power having grown exponentially. Hi connectors 💫 I'm happy to share that I've successfully completed my Internet Of Things & Robotics internship at Rinex Technology. Throughout this process, I learnt app developing and successfully done my minor and major projects. Major project on IMAGE CLASSIFICATION: Key learnings : Understanding how to extract relevant features from images, such as edges, textures, or shapes. Understanding how the model makes predictions can be important, especially in applications where interpretability is required. Minor project on customer buttons (developed a sample app for customer's feedback) : During this mission, I created an app with 2 buttons for giving positive and negative Feedback using MIT App Inventor The data has to be sent to the Thingspeak Cloud Thingspeak channel should have 2 fields for receiving positive and Negative feedback respectively Use a Numerical Display Widget in Thingspeak to display the value counts Create a disabler for both the buttons since the free license of Thingspeak allows the next values to be transmitted only after 10 seconds Project on robotic car : In this project, I implemented the working of a Robotic car based on Arduino Uno using Tinkercard. #IOT #Robotics #rinextechnology #rinex #aviate
