Pets often form deep emotional bonds with their owners, providing companionship, love, and comfort. These bonds can be as strong as those with human family members. They are often seen as providers of unconditional love and loyalty, which can be a source of immense joy and emotional support. The loss of a pet can trigger a grieving process similar to losing a human loved one. Mourning a pet helps individuals process their emotions and honor the bond they shared. The experience of caring for a pet can lead to personal growth, teaching responsibility, empathy, and the value of life. The loss of a pet can be a profound moment in a person's life, leading to reflection and remembrance. Overall, the deep emotional connection, the role pets play in daily life, and the positive impact they have on mental and emotional health contribute to why people value and remember their pets even after they die. 😎
When Dutch swimmer Sharon Van Rouwendaal lost her dog, Rio, named after her Olympic gold in Rio, her world stopped. Rio passed away in May after complications from a lung surgery, and Sharon couldn’t think about swimming for weeks. In her darkest moment, her dad said, “Swim for him,” which gave her new strength. Three days after Rio’s cremation, Sharon got a tattoo and said, "Let’s try it, and I will swim for him with my whole heart"—and she did it. With Rio in her heart, Sharon won Olympic gold in the 10,000-meter race at the #ParisOlympics2024. Congratulations, Sharon, and thank you for showing us how pets can give our lives purpose, both during their time with us and even after they’re gone. #HUFT #HeadsUpForTails #Olympics2024 #Swimming #PetsAreFamily

“Swimming was a space where I didn’t have to explain myself. My heads’ under water and if anyone wanted to talk, I couldn’t hear it.” Lizzi Smith, a US paralympic swimmer, shares her story of growing up in a family of 10 and how swimming allowed her to push through any limitations people may have set on her abilities. “I was raised like all my siblings and we never called it a disability so there wasn’t a ton of acknowledgement, I just had to get crafty with tying my shoes and doing the jump rope.” We can't wait to share the rest of Lizzi's story with you! The right time to have cataract surgery is ultimately and always your decision. You may need the procedure if it stops you from enjoying outdoor activities such as skiing, surfing, and golfing because of glares. A lot of golfers struggle because one eye sees differently than the other, and it affects their aim and swing. https://lnkd.in/ey_KTvCZ #Cataract #cataracts #cataractspecialist

Pedro's brother Miguel is a bigger hero and a greater winner than whoever won that Ironman triathlon! 🏆 👏 👏 👏 🥇 It is easy to win when you are carrying just your own load and having less battles to fight while you are going through life. 🔻 Yeah, you can win all the time when you are only looking out for yourself and even sacrificing the needs of others while doing so. 🕊 But there are people who carry others along with them as they move forward in life. Whether it is a family member or a community of people whose needs they help meet, these are the people who take humankind forward. They are the reason why humanity has moved forward to where we are today. 💡 Imagine if Edison created the bulb only for himself and died with his secret. 🛩 Or if the Wright Brothers did not take all the trouble to test and retest what works concerning flight. 🤔 What if Mahatma Gandhi stayed put in South Africa, happy that he had a good life, a good income and status and didn't bother to come back to India to fight and lead India's freedom struggle? ⚖ A lot of times, the losses we encounter are counter-weighed by the wins that someone else has because of us. If someone else won something because we lost something, it is not a loss but a greater WIN for us! 🎯 If you can get the secret behind this message, you may have won something that will keep you going for life! 🔍 Keep giving and keep doing good even when you don't see results. Your 'keeping on' will bring you the greatest result yet in the time to come. 🌾 Nothing good that you do for others is ever lost. It bears fruit in someway or another and blesses you back in ways you may not understand. 🔄 For as you sow, you shall reap. This is a very important principle of life. Those who do good will reap good. For some people it may take a longer time for them to see good returns, but it will surely come. 🎁 Keep doing good and being good. It is the best gift you can give yourself, your children and the coming generations! #giving #doinggood #brother #ironmantriathlon #sowandreap #humanity #mahatmagandhi #miguel #pedro #edison #wrightbrothers #win #losses #sacrifices

Swimming has historically been touted as not only beneficial for scoliosis, but as a treatment for scoliosis. Interestingly, this recommendation, which has often come from pediatricians and surgeons alike, has never been based in evidence. There is no research to support the effectiveness of swimming as a treatment for scoliosis. That said, if your child/teen is involved in swimming and likes to swim, continue doing it! In our article "Let Them Play Sports! Addressing the Topic of Sports and Scoliosis," expert scoliosis physical therapist Kelly Grimes addresses the hot topic of sports and scoliosis.
