Attending Netroots Nation with my team at the Democratic Governors Association was an incredible experience! Connecting with passionate leaders, activists, and advocates committed to progressive change was so inspiring. Some of my favorite panels included: - The Power to Define: Who Has the Power to Define the Work, What is Needed, and Who We Must Serve? – An insightful discussion featuring Rep. Cori Bush on the importance of controlling narratives and definitions to truly empower impacted communities. - Don’t Count Us Out: How to Go from Red to Blue in the Deep South – An eye-opening look at how traditionally conservative Southern states can turn purple or blue with sustained investment in organizing high-opportunity voters. - Defending Dissent: A Discussion on Palestine, Freedom of Speech and the Future of Protest – A powerful conversation on the repression of dissent related to Israel-Palestine, from anti-boycott legislation to the arrest of student protestors. The conversations, workshops, and panels were thought-provoking and empowering. I’m looking forward to bringing these insights and energy back to continue our work for a brighter future.

HACKATHONS AS RESEARCH METHODS Regional Advocacy Network https://lnkd.in/d4rMqk3E recently hosted the inaugural fully online Hackathon, uniting a group of enthusiastic change advocates and practitioners from the private sector and civil society. The challenge for the event was presented by students conducting research for their theses. A key takeaway from this experience is the potential integration of #DevPolHack https://lnkd.in/dzCqMeWs into mainstream research methods.
