Gamification, as I describe it, is the injection of Natural Reinforcement into routine workplace activities with the simple goal of making work more fun. Imagine increasing productivity and reducing turnover simply by making work as enjoyable as playing a game. Tech demos at Justworks recently went from only a couple presentations each time to packing the full hour with an overflow list. Here's what changed: - Top leadership at the company made it a point to prioritize attending with our CEO Michael Seckler often being in person in the room. - Presenting unfinished, unpolished work that might fail during the demo was strongly encouraged and anytime a demo did fail it was celebrated. - Professional presentations were forbidden. You just present the work in your local environment. - 5 minute time limits were strictly enforced. As a result, this has become one of our most attended and most valuable meetings providing not only a morale boost showcasing the great work going on but also getting everyone on the same page to avoid duplicate efforts or misdirected work!
