Searcy Trucking Ltd. has found a way to reduce worker injuries and create a return to work program that is making a positive impact in their workplace. "With drivers needing to be up securing freight, there always will be the risk of injuries," said Norm Blagden, Searcy's president and CEO. "If a driver takes a fall, there can be debilitating injuries, with surgeries involved. It's serious." The Searcy team worked with the WCB to create a successful program that allows injured workers to remain an active and important part of the workplace. What advice would Blagden give other businesses looking to enhance their return to work program? "Definitely reach out to the WCB. We needed help. We just didn't know to ask." The holiday hustle is here, and trucking dispatchers know it’s go-time! We asked our top dispatchers how they prep for peak season, and here’s the golden advice: 👉 Go for demand and keep tabs on when freight demand spikes. "Make the habit of checking on what kind of freight is needed depending the season and route your trucks into the hot spots! 👉 Plan trips ahead because "there's no peak season for a dispatcher", it's all about strategy. "Plan your trips accordingly and look in advance!". Let's stay sharp and let’s own this season! 💪 #Dispatch #DispatchIT #TruckingPeakSeason #DispatchTips #FreightHustle #Trucking #USA #TruckingCompanies #TruckDrivers #DispatchServices

🚚The law says all companies must have policies and procedures to minimise risk – that includes a driving for work policy. So does yours include all the relevant sections? https://lnkd.in/g9zdTUV The Health and Safety Executive has recognised that #drivingforwork is one of the most dangerous things many workers will do. ⚠️One area that needs to be included in your driving for work policy (and is often missed) is a section that covers those who don't necessarily drive your vehicles BUT they do drive while at work - so maybe they drive their own vehicles or other private vehicles, or leased vehicles for example. This is known as your 'grey fleet'. The new National Highways Driving for Better Business Driving for Work Policy Builder is an online tool which will help you ensure you have a ‘good practice’ Driving for Work policy - and that includes all the information you need to include for your #greyfleet drivers. Once you’ve created your profile, you’ll be able to: ✔️Access a policy template and checklist to ensure you’ve got everything covered ✔️Create a policy document that meets legal and compliance standards ✔️Get email alerts for any changes in guidance or legislation that could affect your policy ✔️Receive an annual reminder to review your policy, with any changes that may be required This will help all employers with employees who drive as part of their working day, to ensure they're doing all they can to ensure the safety of those employees - and the safety of all other road users (and that includes most of us!) It's free and easy to create your profile - so please share with your networks. I know I sound repetitive, but, SAFETY is the number 1 priority in the trucking industry. You can't put a price tag on safety because its true value encompasses more than just financial considerations. Here are several key reasons why safety is paramount: - **Human Lives**: The most critical reason is the protection of human lives. Ensuring safety means safeguarding drivers, passengers, and pedestrians, as the loss or injury of a human life cannot be quantified in monetary terms. - **Reputation and Trust**: A company's reputation is built on its commitment to safety. Trust from customers, employees, and the public is invaluable. Any compromise in safety can lead to a loss of trust that could take years to rebuild. - **Legal and Ethical Responsibilities**: Companies have a moral and legal obligation to provide a safe working environment. Failing to prioritize safety can result in legal consequences and ethical breaches that far outweigh any cost savings from cutting corners. - **Long-Term Financial Implications**: Implementing safety measures might have immediate costs, but the long-term financial benefits are significant. Avoiding accidents reduces costs related to medical expenses, legal fees, vehicle repairs, and insurance premiums. - **Employee Well-Being and Morale**: A safe working environment enhances employee well-being and morale, leading to higher productivity and loyalty, contributing to the company's overall success. - **Operational Continuity**: Safety incidents can disrupt operations, leading to downtime and lost revenue. Prioritizing safety ensures smoother operations and prevents costly interruptions. - **Community Impact**: Ensuring safety helps maintain positive relationships with the communities trucking companies serve, fostering goodwill and cooperation. In essence, safety is a fundamental, non-negotiable aspect that underpins the trucking industry's integrity, sustainability, and overall success. The benefits of maintaining rigorous safety standards far exceed any potential savings from neglecting them. #TruckingSafety #SafetyFirst #IndustryStandards #EmployeeWellBeing #OperationalExcellence #
