*Gasps in trademark lawyer* Legally, none of these brands are generic terms. If the connection in the NYT Connections game from this past Saturday was "Brands that consumers think have become generic terms but are not," that could be accurate.

Tupperware, the company selling resealable containers, is in bankruptcy; Tupperware may live on to mean any resealable container, but not as a brand

Trademarks (and copyright) don't really work like this: "The Home Office, in charge of the nation’s immigration, security, and law and order, denied the youngster’s passport, claiming it couldn’t print “Skywalker” because of Disney’s copyright on the name. ... The department told the family it either had to change their son’s name or get permission from Disney to use “Skywalker.”"

Morrissey just hasn't signed it yet (baby): "After Marr declined a Smiths reunion tour, Morrissey, in an attempt to heap fan resentment on Marr, claimed Marr 'successfully applied for 100% trademark rights / intellectual property ownership of The Smiths name.' Lobbing the ball back over to Morrissey, Marr explained that he owned [THE SMITHS mark registration] because Morrissey failed to sign the documents of joint ownership."

This headline is not "Liquidia Drag Lunch" as I initially read it.

I'm with the band, as they say, or brand? "In a new lawsuit filed Friday (Aug. 23) in Manhattan federal court, Joey’s brother Mitchel Hyman (better known as Mickey Leigh) accused Johnny’s wife, Linda Cummings-Ramone, of violating federal trademark law by carrying out an “unrelenting quest” to associate herself with the Ramones."

This one took a large team (and lots of trademarks). Congrats to all to getting this done!

Trademarks don't really work like this: "A woman was left "devastated" after her daughter's passport application was rejected because she was named after a Game of Thrones character... Officials said they were unable to issue a passport unless Warner Brothers gave permission because it owned the name's trademark.
