Accompanying and guiding enterprising families and their members navigate their challenges I Board Member I Family Business & Family Office Consulting | Writer | Philanthropy & Sustainability | Consultant & Advisor @fbcg
My dear friend Pedro Mejia often says, "What can be measured can be improved." I would add to this great quote what Professor Subramanian shared at last year's global summit of FBN-The Family Business Network : "Performance is visible, but progress is invisible." We usually focus on measuring the number of sales, calls, shipments, actions, and more—performance, of course. Identifying what's not working becomes clearer, and we can start planning a strategy. However, there are many aspects we can't see in that performance. The energy, commitment, care, love, and all the "invisible" effort we put into what we do are crucial elements that don't always reflect in traditional metrics. These intangible factors are what truly drive progress and evolution over time. I believe that helping family businesses should not only focus on visible results but also nurture those invisible factors that create a culture of success and well-being. Integrating wealth with well-being, money with meaning, and the present with the future is the true goal. Excited for the new lessons that FBN-The Family Business Network Summit is goint to bring this year. #familybusiness #impact #purpose
We are getting ready to celebrate this year's global summit, reflecting on valuable lessons from last year's event. Professor Subramanian Rangan noted that performance is visible, but progress is invisible. Subi urged us to make the invisible more visible. If each family business makes this choice, then each can contribute to bigger output and better outcomes. Delivering performance requires competence, but delivering progress requires character: caring, commitment, and courage. It requires moving from making decisions to making choices. Decisions, he underlined, are about information, and choices are about identity. If each family of FBN can work this way, together we can integrate wealth and well-being, money and meaning, and the present and the future. This week, I'm answering the call for speakers for an event happening in the US in May (Can you guess which one? Hint: I've been a speaker there already, but virtually, during Covid). The reason I like this conference particularly is that it actively prioritizes inclusive and diverse panels, recognizing that this approach isn’t just beneficial for speakers but significantly enhances the experience for attendees as well. Here’s why that’s so important. 🌟 Richer Conversations, Better Learning Diverse panels bring unique perspectives, fostering conversations that are both richer and more insightful. 🔍 Fostering Innovation through Multiple Viewpoints Panels with varied voices help spark innovation and challenge assumptions, exploring issues from multiple angles. 🤝 Encouraging Empathy and Connection For attendees, seeing a panel that reflects the diversity of the audience itself creates a sense of belonging and engagement. 🌱 Amplifying Underrepresented Voices Conferences like this set a new standard, making space for voices that might otherwise be underrepresented. When you're invited to speak at a panel, please make sure this is a diverse and inclusive one - and if it's not, make sure you contribute to this change!

Founder & CEO, Rise with Diana & Rise Advocates® Academy | Proven system for corporate women to be seen, valued and heard, and promoted and paid their worth | Former Corporate Executive & Civil Rights Attorney | Author
FREEDOM is being TRUE to who you really are! Who have you been pretending to be? Isn't it time you start receiving the blessings that you've been blocking because you've been pretending to be someone else? It's it time that YOU REVIVE your authentic self? When you REVIVE your authentic self, you: * REGAIN the power that is rightfully yours. * You live with a deeper sense of knowing and confidence * You have peace of mind, and well-being * You are capable of speaking up and advocating for yourself * You give your organization the best thing they could ever receive - your best ideas and all of the P.A.S.S.I.O.N. that you can bring. Here's the best part: that's exactly what we will be discussing at the All Rise Live Global Summit, and we have the BEST LINEUP of speakers to talk about it. EVERYONE is at different stages of their journey, and we all have a story to share. This is NOT your standard conference, where we have speaker, after speaker, after speaker - and your head hurts with being BLASTED with so much information. Not at the All Rise Live Global Summit. Here, we will listen to an engaging speaker, take a deep dive doing table conversations, which allows for more connection. Then, we practice speaking our truth, and how we intend to advocate for ourselves. That way, we have a plan of action for when we leave, on how we will show up at our organizations, in our community, and with our families. We will listen to Mary Ann Korenic, Deborah Porter, Sharon Shi, Noor Abukaram of Let Noor Run, Ambrea Mikolajczyk, Eliana Maritza Nunez, Kathryn Williford, and Emily Zarecki share their stories, to help inspire us to speak our visions to LIFE and POWER! Did you get your ticket? Don't hesitate. You'll want to get your ticket as soon as possible because we have a LIMITED amount of seats for people who are SERIOUS about our movement. Does this sound like something that is speaking directly to you? Two final things: You should have your company pay for this. BUT, if you will pay for it, then you can take advantage of a payment plan at check out. REGARDLESS ... if it's you and you want it bad enough, you'll get there. We know corporate women leaders - that's just how we roll. Let's RISE!
