Thank you to the DC chapter of U.S. Women in Nuclear (U.S. WIN) and to Aleshia Duncan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Cooperation in the office of Nuclear Energy, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), for visiting MPR today and leading the dynamic course, Powerful Communication! We focused on enhancing communication skills and discussed the critical impact effective communications plays in everything from advocacy to confidence building and beyond.

Thank you very much in advance
𝑮𝒍𝒂𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒆!
I have undertaken the course administered by The Stimson Center on "𝑅𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐷𝑒𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒: 𝐶𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑒𝑡𝑒 𝐸𝑑𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛".
The course provided an in-depth understanding of #deterrence and #compellence in the wake of interstate conflict, which can lead to potential escalation.
The multipolarity of nuclear states is further concerning, especially in the South Asian context, which lacks four Cs - communication, credibility, commitment, and calculation - for effective coercion.
The course equips leaders, academia, policymakers and students with ample knowledge to outsource any future nuclear armageddon.
Best invest in Building Fusion power, space, and maritime propulsion systems and industry,
You talk about Nuclear (meaning Fission) and fail to discuss fusion.

The nuclear fission industry is, ignorant of what's happening around you.
Pull your uranium heads out, start adjusting your industry to fusion energy and start preparing to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. As it dawns on Earth like the sun.
Great Headline Guardian on Nuclear fission.

Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an accelerated pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place," and merely a temporary industry globally.

Commercial fusion electrical generation is a promising innovative sustainable and clean energy method.
By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period.

Operations Control Room Supervisor - Nuclear Energy
Today, the Limerick Generating Station hit a new record for female licenses in the Main Control Room.
The NRC licenses all individuals who operate or supervise the controls of a commercially owned nuclear power reactor or a test/research reactor in the United States. With approximately 3,600 active NRC-licensed power and 350 non-power reactor operators in the United States, this accomplishment is truly noteworthy.
In celebration of this achievement, check out this great read about the longest-tenured 'Lady SRO' at Southern Nuclear. The article highlights the incredible accomplishments of women in the field and showcases the importance of #ReliableWomen in the industry. Congratulations to all the women who are breaking barriers and making history in the nuclear power sector!

Lifetime Achievement Award at Marquis Who's Who,Honored by IAOTP as Top Power Plant Consultant of the Year for 2020, Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree 2022 by IAOTP,Fellow American Biographical Institute
At the outset, BRAVO to the 4 Ladies shown (& all others in charge of Control Rooms in the Nuclear Power Plants)
DATABASE(1970-2024)
[A] Background
The Largest Privately held Power Plants DATABASE started in 1970 includes most of the Important Parameters/Data/Metrics (Partly Confidential/Personal Communications/Non-Public) related to the Nuclear Power Plants ( Among other Types of Plants).
Speaking of Limerick Nuclear Plant (Construction of Unit 2-GE BWR Type 4 Mark II Containment, had one of the great Achievement/Performance), I provided some support related to the PRUDENCE Investigations of Nuclear Power Plants Across various Jurisdictions in the U.S.
[B]NEW METRIC Added Today. (As part of the Periodic Updates of my above DATABASE- includes a vast amount of Diversified Data for the Limerick Project)
- METRIC: "Approximately 3600 Active NRC-Licensed Power ............Reactor
Operators in the United States."
A truly noteworthy Accomplishment-Congratulations to the NRC and the
TEAM.
P.S: For the Commercial Success of NEW Nuclear it must be "Cost-competitive" (Reasonably "Apples-To-Apples" Basis.!)

This week’s #RIC2024 was the location for the signing of a trilateral Memorandum of Cooperation for #AdvancedReactors and #SmallModularReactors. The new agreement expands U.S./Canadian work to include our United Kingdom counterparts -- the Office for Nuclear Regulation. Our Chair Chris Hanson put pen to paper along with CNSC Acting CEO Ramzi Jammal and ONR Chief Executive/Chief Nuclear Inspector Mark Foy. The memo enables formal collaboration on reviews of common technical safety issues to meet each country’s regulations. The agreement also covers pre-application activities, research, training, and emerging novel technical issues. All three agencies will share best practices as new reactor designs work towards standardization and international deployment. https://lnkd.in/dPVT5hv5

This is a well researched article which seeks to inform the reader of the true state of strategic deterrence and nuclear weapons rather than simply feeding on emotional responses to push a political agenda. Thanks for the great read!
The Faux Nuclear Arms Race that Isn't.
NIDS VP for Research, Dr. Adam Lowther and VP for Education Curtis McGiffin provide an insightful review of the Washington Post Editorial Boards article on the latest Nuclear Arms race. They call out inaccurate and misrepresented comments in their article to reveal what's really happening in the world. #nucleardeterrence#nucleararmsrace#China#Russia#strategicposturecommission
Since the end of the Cold War, nuclear weapons have receded from both political and public attention.
And yet, the risk they pose has not gone away. Nuclear weapons systems are shaped by human decision-makers, meaning these systems are vulnerable to errors and biases in human judgement.
It was a pleasure to co-write this report with colleagues from The Behavioural Insights Team and Chatham House on the role that behavioural insights can play in helping to understand and mitigate human risks in nuclear weapons policy.
While we certainly didn't come up with definitive answers, we're excited to take these ideas forward, and would love to speak with potential collaborators.

Watch the video abstract for Andrew Futter and Olamide Samuel's new Review of International Studies (RIS) article:
'Accommodating Nutopia: The nuclear ban treaty and the developmental interests of Global South countries'
The article argues that the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) would not have been possible without protecting the inalienable rights of states to pursue nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
Global South perspectives are often overlooked, and as such, current regimes of nuclear arms control and disarmament remain only partially understood in Western literature.

Highly NRiched will soon feature a new project, putting antiracism, postcolonialism, and feminism at the center of nuclear studies. Race, Colonialism, and Nuclear Weapons, a Decolonizing Nuclear Studies module, looks at the study of nuclear weapons through the lens of anti-colonialism and anti-racism. Coming soon!
