So I started doing a thing... A lot of you know me personally, but a lot of you may not know ALL of me, haha. Don't worry, it doesn't get (too) weird.... ThrashGnar was originally the name I came up with for a group of friends that were mostly in our 30s at the time and still skateboarding. It was a tongue-in-cheek commentary about how we would not really be thrashin' or getting gnarly, but we still love skateboarding. I met some of those friends at the racetrack when I was competing in some local club series in SoCal, WSMC, WERA, CVMA, AFM, etc. That evolved into the name of my skate shop that I opened up in 2014 near downtown Los Angeles. The shop has since been sold, renamed, relocated, and closed down, sadly, but the name lives on not only on my leg as a tattoo. ThrashGnar is my go-to the feels like home and it will always be a part of me in everything I do. No need to limit it to skateboarding. With that, behold! ThrashGnar.com has been revived as the tangible version of my Motorcycle Road Racing Management & Consulting endeavor. I've managed and own a professional team here in the US, managed a handful of professional national riders, and managed a brand's national sponsorship and trackside service program. I have a lot of free time these days with my other work taking up minimal time, so why not! Check out my first blog post linked here. As a dedicated follower of motorsport and someone deeply involved in sports marketing, I am excited to see recent developments. The announcement from FanCode stepping up as broadcaster for Indian Formula 1 fans for the upcoming 2024 season is truly heartening. Reflecting on the previous season, the absence of a prominent broadcaster left many Indian enthusiasts disheartened. While F1 TV remained an alternative with a subscription cost of $30 per year, although comparatively lower than the $80 yearly fee in other markets, still posed a significant hurdle for casual followers of the sport in India. However, the emergence of FanCode this year has injected a fresh sense of optimism. By proactively addressing the needs of Indian Formula 1 enthusiasts, they have once again democratized access to the sport. The potential viewership numbers that can be garnered from India are indeed staggering, especially when employing a bottom-up approach and taking into account the nuanced preferences of the average Indian viewer. This strategic understanding underscores the significance of Fancode's initiative in making Formula 1 more accessible and engaging for the Indian audience. FanCode serves as the hub for over 100 million sports enthusiasts in India.
