Imagine the life of a person who is affected by an unknown or a complex disease which itself is caused by a very own immune system. First, they might need time to clearly understand what sort of things they are facing in their life. Second, they need guidance that helps them manage their struggle and improve their quality of life rather than creating an unnecessary fear that can mislead. Today, we are going to debunk the myths that have surrounded the autoimmune disorder for many years. Boosting Naloxone’s Effectiveness Against Opioid Overdoses. A recent US-based study discovered a new compound that could enhance naloxone’s ability to fend off more potent opioids. Naloxone is a life-saving opioid antidote that reverses opioid overdoses in more than 90 percent of cases. But its powers are temporary, lasting only 30 to 90 minutes. In overdose cases involving large amounts of fentanyl, Naloxone (or Narcan) can wear off before all fentanyl has left the system, resulting in a new burst of respiratory depression. A new compound, called 368, enhances naloxone’s ability to counteract opioids, even in small doses, with fewer withdrawal symptoms. Researchers believe this breakthrough could help address overdoses from powerful opioids and pave the way for more effective treatments in the future. #OpioidAwareness #OverdosePrevention #CarryNaloxone #EndOverdose #HarmReduction #Recovery Learn more by clicking the following link: https://lnkd.in/gc6434R7

Can treating a chief concern lead to worse #pain? 𝐘𝐞𝐬! Frequently there is a disguised drug interaction behind a new concern 🥸 and treating a side effect will not address the core issue. For example, take this 57-year-old woman suffering from epigastric pain. Initially, we may recommend that the patient take Antacids or a proton pump inhibitor. ✖️𝐖𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 She's been taking Alendronate. A common side effect of Alendronate is Gastroesophageal reflux disease and stomach pain. We can conclude that her concern is a side effect of her medication. ✔️𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 Vacation from Alendronate. #Pharmacists #ClinicalPharmacist #ADR #MTM #Alendronate #DrugInteractions

[Curable vs Manageable] While looking at the clinical data on anticancer drugs, I had similar thoughts to this author. Is PR/CR with toxicity really better than SD without toxicity? How much support can there be for developing drugs to manage the tumor-bearing conditions? This book also makes me think about how people living these days who are guaranteed longevity should ultimately accept and deal with disease (high mortality rate disease). Thanks to Yunseon Chong who recommends this book "Being mortal" written by Atul Gawande. #modernmortality #beingmortal #howorwherewillIdie

Recent research on semaglutide, commonly used for diabetes and weight management, points to a fascinating new application — the potential to reduce addiction. While the studies are still in their early stages, the idea of leveraging this medication to impact behavior and dependency could mark a promising shift in how we approach addiction treatment. Could this be a game-changer ? It’s certainly an exciting development worth following closely. #treataddictionsavelives
Semaglutide was associated with reduced opioid overdose risk in patients with type 2 diabetes and opioid use disorder, this study finds, suggesting its potential therapeutic value for preventing overdoses. https://ja.ma/47EgJ3s

10 DAILY HABITS HURTING YOUR KIDNEYS YOU NEED TO STOP overused. The kidneys play a crucial role in filtering and eliminating substances from the body, including medications. When you overuse painkillers, especially non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen and naproxen, it puts excessive strain on these organs. These drugs can reduce the blood flow to the kidneys, impairing their ability to function properly. Over time, this can lead to a reduction in kidney efficiency and, in severe cases, acute kidney injury or chronic kidney disease. https://lnkd.in/dj4QUvKD

Sparrow Ascent offers a unique advantage in the treatment of opioid withdrawal symptoms: it has no known drug interactions or systemic side effects. This makes it a safe and reliable option for individuals seeking relief from opioid withdrawal symptoms. Unlike traditional medications, which may interact with other drugs or cause widespread side effects, Sparrow Ascent uses Transcutaneous Auricular Neurostimulation (tAN®) to provide targeted symptom relief.
