Indian MRO ecosystem is witnessing a dynamic shift as Air India Limited sets the stage for breaking ground on one of the first-of-its-kind #basemaintenance facilities at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport. The #MROfacility spread over 35 acres of land is a first-of-its-kind partnership between an airline – Air India, the government of Karnataka and Bengaluru International Airport. Campbell Wilson, Air India's CEO, expressed his pride and happiness at the ground-breaking event. "The Bengaluru MRO facility is coming up at an opportune time to help strengthen India's aviation ecosystem while enhancing our in-house capabilities to maintain our fleet," Wilson shared with reporters. It is good that MRO units are being setup here which will save the country valuable foreign exchange and planes will be maintained here but one big issue is the skilled manpower availability in India and lives depend on these staff who maintain the aircraft.6E ,AI or any other airline setting up MRO should first look at preparing skilled manpower before going live .DGCA should look into this aspect and ensure the technicians are certified by DGCA or FAA before allowing the aircraft maintenance here in India
