The engineering profession takes pride in its commitment to volunteerism, which is evident through the work of PEO’s 36 Chapters. Learn more about our chapter volunteers and their accomplishments. #NationalVolunteerWeek2024 #NVW2024

Chapters are the local presence for Professional Engineers Ontario across the province. Organized into 5 regions, the 36 Chapters promote the value of engineering to local communities and provide an important link between licence holders, EITs and PEO Council. Often the first point of contact for aspiring engineers, Chapters provide invaluable support to their members through networking events, organizing licence certificate ceremonies, and professional development opportunities. I would like to highlight a few accomplishments from last year: -In 2023, chapter volunteers handed out 1175 framed licence certificates at 60 ceremonies and hosted over 300 chapter events that clocked 15,750 reserved tickets. -150 volunteers came together in November to participate in the 2023 Chapter Leaders Conference and GLP Training Summit; two events that were made possible by the commitment and passion of 16 volunteers on the planning committees. We commend our Chapters for their role in promoting engineering, STEM education and careers in communities across Ontario. No matter your role or location, we’re grateful for your contributions and efforts. #NationalVolunteerWeek2024 #NVW2024

🟢 We’re transforming our engineering future... Yesterday, we had a brilliant session with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) where our engineers gained valuable insights and actionable knowledge. A huge thank you to Shauna Byrne for delivering an incredibly engaging and insightful webinar that left our engineers inspired and eager to take the next steps in their professional journeys. The session covered: • Introduction to the IET • IET Membership; what’s included and how to get involved • Professional Registration; categories, competencies and Career Manager ➡️ The feedback from our engineers was fantastic! They found the webinar extremely helpful, especially in addressing concerns about professional registration and understanding how to leverage IET resources for career advancement. 🚀 We’re excited to see our engineers at all levels take advantage of this opportunity to gain global recognition for their skills and expertise. This collaboration not only supports their career growth but also enhances our DACI Utilities Engineering Consultancy Ltd’s commitment to excellence in the engineering field. 🙌 The IET’s support is invaluable, and we’ve already identified areas from the webinar that will be instrumental in our future projects and initiatives. Graduate Mechanical Engineer | Entrepreneur | Innovator | cybersecurity analyst | Risk Management | Security Administrator
The transition from undergraduate life to becoming a certified graduate of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology has been successfully completed. After weeks of intense dedication to exams, projects, and induction processes, the journey culminated in a rewarding achievement. The year commenced with rigorous academic tests and exams immediately following the festive period. Despite the challenges faced during examinations, the department set a deadline for the submission of our projects, allowing just two weeks after our final papers/sign-out. My project, titled 'Development of an Automated Mango Harvesting Robot', presented its own set of challenges and required meticulous planning and execution. Following the successful defense of the project on Friday, March 1st, attention quickly turned to preparing for the 18th LAUTECH NSE induction ceremony, scheduled for March 7th. Amidst the preparations, the external defense added an extra layer of anticipation and excitement. Taking place on Tuesday, March 12th, the external defense provided an opportunity to showcase our projects before industry experts. This experience was not only academically enriching but also personally fulfilling. It allowed me to apply the public speaking skills acquired from organizations like JCI (Junior Chamber International) Lautech and engage with industrialists in a professional setting. As I reflect on this journey, I am filled with gratitude for the support received from mentors, peers, and faculty members. This marks the beginning of a new chapter filled with opportunities for growth and exploration in the field of mechanical engineering. #Lautech #engineering #engineeringinnovation #engineeringcommunity #artificialintelligence
