We’re seeing this more frequently: a searcher does a traditional search fund or partners with an accelerator (generally, to obtain access to equity capital and know-how) to acquire and grow a small business, and then upon sale, pivots to a self-funded model (e.g., uses a portion of their sale proceeds plus taps an SBA 7(a) loan up to $5M) to acquire a new small business, which they now can own the majority of and have greater flexibility to hold and grow "forever":
