I found this email in my junk folder today. This email is trying to make people update their payments, starting with the subject "You've got an alert" and going into detail on what happened. In the email, the words "Prime" and "Amazon Prime" are used to make the reader believe that this is from Amazon. test@aircon2000.com.sg The email address shows clearly that isn't amazon but a phishing email, as user "test" from aircon2000.com.sg did send the email. It states "Your membership has been suspended and you are not able to use Amazon Prime." and "If you don't update your payment card in the next 3 days, your Amazon Prime membership will be cancelled.", to make the reader press the big yellow button. Remember: When you receive this kind of emails, always check the email address of the sender. Read carefully and see if something is seems suspicious. Do not click any link or give any bank, credit card or password. If you are unsure about an email, ask your IT or a family and friend.

Did you think Amazon was hacked? Me too. Snopes directed readers to a Reddit thread where Amazon users were discussing the potential breach. Dozens of users believed they were victims of a hack, but when they dug a little deeper, they were able to solve the mystery. One user explained that they deleted the new address, put an item in their cart, went to checkout, and then deleted the item. When they checked the list of addresses, the same Amazon pickup location had reappeared. 🐞“Just reproduced it myself,” said a second Redditor. “Definitely a bug/feature […] maybe it adds one sort of near a delivery address we’ve used as a placeholder it swaps for the one you select if you decide to pick up. I’m not worried.” Snopes also reached out to Amazon about the issue and received the following response: “We have no evidence of a security event at Amazon and our systems remain secure. Customers who have questions about their account should contact customer service.” At this point, there are two potential explanations that make the most sense: ✏️ Amazon failed to detect one of the most significant security breaches in its history. ✏️These locations are automatically being added by Amazon intentionally or due to a bug. While the former would certainly be shocking and newsworthy, the latter is far more likely. With that said, there is no explanation from Amazon at the time of writing. This is obviously unnerving people, so it would be helpful if Amazon could share a statement. Otherwise, Facebook is going to continue to fan the flames of the conspiracy theories. In the meantime, you can check your addresses by going to Amazon, hovering over Account & Lists, and then going to Account > Your Addresses. Or just click on amazon.com/a/addresses. Don’t be surprised if you see an Amazon Locker or two. 🔑 This also wouldn’t be a bad time to change your password and set up Two-Step Verification. If a hacker ever does attempt to access your account, this will make it far more difficult for them to gain access and start making fraudulent purchases. According to the message, customers in the UK should beware of phishing emails, texts, or phone calls that claim to be from the company.  Cybercriminals are targeting the retail giant with its trusted name to prey on unsuspecting customers who give them personal information and money by using the brand's trusted reputation. In many of these scams, there is a false promise that Amazon accounts will be closed or that unauthorized charges have been established against them. According to others, Amazon's use will need to be verified to continue. A user is being advised to be cautious if he or she receives a message such as this one.  The announcement from Amazon said that users should be on the lookout for Prime membership scams. These are usually emails, phone calls, or texts that users receive from impersonators informing them that their membership has been terminated or that they are charged an unauthorized fee. A spokesperson for Amazon stated: "Scammers might send fake attachments in emails, or cause users to believe they are being charged a costly fee".  If users are concerned, they should contact the Message Centre on Amazon.co.uk or the Amazon mobile app to verify that the email is genuine from the retailer. Go to the 'Your Account' section in Amazon's account to verify the user's Prime membership status, authorize payments, or make any changes to the user's billing and account information, by logging into the account and going to the section.  There are several things users can do if they receive a message or phone call that they think is not from Amazon, such as reporting it. ALERT & WARNING: My Amazon Account is hacked, Amazon Pay money stolen. READ NOW if you use www.amazon.in regularly. Long post but a "MUST" read about the AMAZON'S AMAZING CYBER SECURITY STORY... Amazon claims to be "Earth's most customer-centric company" and employees claim to follow 14 principles, but after speaking with SIX employees, but I did not find any of these during my interactions. We are all mosquitos to Amazon—they don't care for us & their customer service does not have process to resolve such HACKING issues. And Now my story... I am a prime user for 15 years and had Rs.5000 as Amazon Pay Balance. On 19 July, I lost access to my account on the web, though the mobile app access still works (the hacker’s activities are visible 😲 ) - Refer to enclosed screenshots!! On my mobile under "Account - Login and Security," I can see my mobile number was updated by the hacker to 7032102756 (Name: Imityaz Ahmed as per true caller) and email ID to anil987@yopmail.com (this is a disposable email domain - hackers paradise). How can Amazon allow yopmail domain IDs? - First Security Breach The hacker called customer care and changed my email to his yopmail. Customer care sent the authentication OTP to yopmail instead of my original email (Cyber Security Joke of the 21st Century 😜 ). Refer Screenshot below to have a good laugh (at my cost!) - Second Security Breach Hacker changed my mobile number without any SMS/Email approval - Third Security Breach. Despite my 2FA and a strong password (14 chars), the hacker got access since 15 July. They bought Rs.20000 worth of products with just Rs.5000 Pay balance. How ???? 🙀 He exploited the return policy for food items, getting back credits in Amazon Pay. Order - hit return - get money - again - Order -hit return - get money - did this 4 times last week !!! 🙈 I had spent THREE HOURS talking to customer care (1800 1200 1593 / 1800 1200 1637 - (Spoke to swamijith,sonu,kazi,shreya,Atrit....uffff) with no use. They suspect me, thinking the hacker is genuine. No ticket, No email, No Tracking - everytime you call new person answers and you have to repeat the whole story again and again!! What a frustrating experience since 2 days. No HOPES of getting back my account and money! I emailed reportascam@amazon.com 3 days ago—got back nothing except an automated response. Other emails bounced.
