Yesterday, MSI UK's Associate Clinical Director, Dr. Yvonne Neubauer, received an NHS award for her free, advanced training for abortion surgeons🎉 Dr. Neubauer launched the training to address a UK surgeon shortage, which had meant thousands were having to travel to access care.

Right now, we’re at the World Health Summit in Berlin, ensuring abortion access and reproductive choice are on the agenda. Experts from around the world are gathered here to strengthen partnerships and drive global health solutions. We're meeting with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and other partners to share insights and keep sexual and reproductive health and rights at the centre of discussions. We're delighted to announce that Patrick Kinemo is our new Country Director for Tanzania 🎉 Speaking about his appointment, Patrick shared, "By working with partners to build access to quality sexual and reproductive healthcare, we can empower women, girls and communities (including men) and transform lives. I’m excited to be joining MSI Tanzania, and their inspiring work to advance reproductive choice." Before joining MSI Reproductive Choices, Patrick served as the Director of Programs at Pathfinder Tanzania, where he was instrumental in both the design and implementation of Pathfinder Tanzania's flagship initiative that addresses the interconnected challenges of health, climate change, natural resource management, and livelihoods. We are confident that Patrick’s leadership will be pivotal in driving our mission forward in Tanzania.

📆 The US election is just over a month away. We're taking a look at how the vote could impact abortion rights around the world - not only in America. Whatever the outcome of the election, we will be calling on the incoming US president to support reproductive rights globally, and will work with partners to protect abortion access.

Last week, during #ChoiceWeek, MSI team members across the globe held events to mark #InternationalSafeAbortionDay and #WorldContraceptionDay. MSI Nepal organised a candlelight vigil in memory of women and girls who have lost their lives due to unsafe abortion, and called on the government to decriminalise abortion. We're proud of our colleagues and frontline providers across the world who fight daily for reproductive choice. 💙🌍

MSI Reproductive Choices is proud to be participating at the Ouagadougou Partnership civil society meeting this week in Lomé, Togo.   The event, organised by the Partenariat de Ouagadougou Coordination Unit, brings together civil society groups from the 9 countries signed onto the Ouagadougou Partnership. A key aim of the meeting is to strengthen collaboration between religious leaders and civil society groups, and identify ways to increase access to contraception across Francophone West Africa.   At the meeting, our senior advocacy advisor Fatou Janssen will present MSI's work to protect access to sexual and reproductive healthcare in crisis settings, sharing initiatives from Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Niger and Senegal.   Our MSI Senegal Advocacy and Youth Strategy Manager, Fatou Diop, will moderate the second day of the meeting, where discussions will focus on how we can protect healthcare in time of crisis, monitor progress towards governmental FP2030 commitments, and share knowledge on reproductive health and contraceptive programming between Ouagadougou Partnership countries.   Head over to the Partenariat de Ouagadougou page to stay up to date on the week’s events.
