The same KOLs are often engaged by both local and global teams (often in silos) which can lead to over usage of KOLs, inaccurate prioritization of KOLs for the most impactful activities and under development of rising stars. Setting engagement restrictions can help overcome these challenges. 🔔 KOL Advocacy Development 🔔   📌 Step 1: Define what advocacy means for your company/brand - KOL agrees with your interpretation of the current evidence? - KOL is also passionate about initiatives that are strategically relevant for your company/brand? examples: - the need to increase vaccination in a certain population - the need to increase rate of testing for a certain condition - the importance of route of administration for patient QoL   📌Step 2: Define how advocacy will be measured - Number of KOL involvements in strategically aligned medical initiatives? - Increase in share of scientific voice on certain topic?   📌Step 3: Identify the KOLs you want to develop as advocates - What types of activities are they involved in? - Are they currently working with competitors? - What is their level of influence? - Are they active on social media with an engaged relevant audience?   📌Step 4: Engage KOLs & understand their current position and the underlying motivators for their current position - If a non-advocate: - Is it due to little exposure/no relationships with your company? - Did they have a previous negative experience with company/product? - Is their position influenced by something/someone else?   📌Step 5: Develop strategy to increase and activate advocates - For non-advocates: Overcome the reasons uncovered in step 4 - For advocates: How can these KOLs be nurtured and leveraged appropriately? #kolengagement #mslexcellence #medicalaffairs

What role does a KOL/rising star you are engaging with *currently* play in the therapy area landscape and is there a way you can influence that? 💡Can you connect them with global Tier 1 KOLs to help them grow their network of experienced clinicians? 💡Can you get them involved in clinical trials/congress presentations to expand their skillset? 💡Can you engage them as a speaker in local Medical Education campaigns to increase their visibility among their peers?
