It’s easy to give in to fear and resignation about what’s happening all around the world. Fires are raging in the Northern Hemisphere and the South is just about to move into what promises to be a scorching summer. Plant trees. Just plant as many as you can. Yes, it should have been done ages ago. But the next best time is now. Trees cool our environment and soak up carbon. They encourage the growth and regeneration of complex ecosystems that repair our world. This doesn’t take a lot of time or money. But it’s a small action that can have a massive effect. #sustainability #planttrees #recycling

I'm not one to air grievances online. But, Apple and Facebook's recent overreach shocked me. I also want people to be on the alert in case they're moving so fast they miss this one. Booking an ad on Facebook mobile now forces users to use Apple Pay with a 42% processing fee. That's not a typo... is this even legal? #unacceptable #overreach #apple #facebook

At Deloittes for an environmental briefing with the Moir Group. Current manufacturing and consumptions behaviours has us tracking along the grey line. Don’t look away. We actually do need to be alarmed. It’s a trillion dollar opportunity. Our own survival’s at stake. #sustainability #recycling #entrepreneurship #startup

We sometimes get musical instruments and while they’re not electronic, we love to find a new home for them. Our first priority is to get them to people in need, students who might not have the funds for an instrument or schools. This guitar is sitting in our warehouse in Auburn and needs a new home if you or anyone you know wants it. Free, of course.

Things like this are why we call it electronics recycling and not ewaste. So many of our things have another story to tell with someone else who will love them. Shredding and crunching up electronics are perfectly viable forms of recycling. They're energy-intensive and should really be limited to those items that can no longer be reused. Beautiful examples of consumer heritage such as old cameras, kid's gaming equipment, vintage radios and even a hand-built early computer still have some life in them. We love to be able to give them that new story. #love #electronics #recycling #sustainability #reuse #reusereducerecycle #reuserevolution

Ways to impact #34. Allow yourself to not do it perfectly. There is no perfect solution that gives us great products with little or no plastic. Yet. We can lose our mind trying to find something that does it all. Today I needed to buy laundry detergent, hand soap, dish soap and body soap for the shower. I'm trying to find something without harsh chemicals that dry my skin, essential oils that smell nice, plastic-free packaging, BUT, that actually does the job it's supposed to do. I've been trying laundry sheets (one brand just didn't clean anything. But, at least I could compost the packaging - hopefully), another hand soap that you dissolve in water has something in it that makes my skin itch and hurt. So far, none of them are doing a great job and I finally gave up and went back to a plastic bottle hand soap I know works, smells nice and feels good. We're not there yet. We're a long way off. But, all we can do is the best we can, given what's out there. Or, start a new venture making household soaps that smell great using natural oils, don't hurt your skin and do a great job. I'll be your first customer. #sustainability #plasticfree #plasticfreeliving #environment #environmentalsustainability

This takes me back. SyQuest was the Betamax of its time. Superior drive and starting to make headway when Iomega brought out the Zip drive. Which would you choose - the beige SyQuest 5880 or the cool blue Zip drive?
