Certified Intelligent Process Automation (IA/RPA) implementation practitioner. Digital Transformation project manager unlocking millions of dollars of hidden business value for organizations served.
Notable Black Innovators: Lucean Arthur Headen Lucean Arthur Headen was an African American aviator and engineer. He was born in 1879 in North Carolina, USA. He graduated from Dayton Industrial and Normal School in 1898. He later enrolled at Albion Academy in Franklinton, where he graduated in 1903. His first invention was a cover for ash carts. Then in 1910, he invented an automatic stabilizer designed to keep aircraft level during flight. In 1911, Headen learned how to fly at the Aeronautical Society in Mineola, New York. This made him probably the first negro aviator in the world. He performed numerous exhibition flights throughout the Midwest. In 1915, Headen sought to patent a "spring inner tube" for automobile tires and subsequently incorporated the Headen Spring-in-a-Tube Company. During World War I he developed a system of mirrors as a cloaking device to protect ships from U-boat attacks. After the war, he opened the Headen Repair Shop in Chicago. However, an attempt to raise money through bootlegging resulted in a two-month prison sentence in Detroit. Despite this setback, profits from the garage enabled him to start the Headen Motor Company in 1921. The company became the first in the United States to produce vehicles entirely designed by an African American. By 1924, Headen's company offered a touring car, a sports roadster, and a race car. He traveled widely to promote his company and solicit investments, emphasizing Black pride and arguing that automobiles could help alleviate segregation. In 1924, Headen co-founded the Afro-American Automobile Association, the first nationwide Black auto club. He later moved to Albany, Georgia, where he incorporated the Headen Motor Car Company (HMCC). HMCC assembled cars, repaired and serviced vehicles, and sold accessories. In 1930, Headen and Henry Petit, a locomotive engineer, were granted Headen's first patent for an ignition device. Together, they also developed a fuel-saving vaporizing manifold, earning a British patent in 1933 and a U.S. patent in 1935. #BlackScientist #InnovativeMind #ScienceTrailblazer #DiverseInnovation #STEMLeader #InnovativeScientist #DiversityInScience #TrailblazingScientist #ScientificInnovation #BlackExcellence #ScientificInnovation #DiverseGenius #STEMTrailblazer #Innovation #Computing #History #Pioneers #blackhistorymatters #inventions #inventor #innovation #engineering #Technology #STEM #Inspiration #techinnovation #InnovativeMind #PioneeringResearch #EmpoweredScientist #BreakingBarriers #FutureLeader #InspiringChange #InnovativeResearcher #BlackInnovation #SciencePioneer #techinnovation #workskills #gurukreatif #multiplication #collegeapps #collegestudents

I decided to join Weber State University because my own life's mission aligned perfectly with the university's focus on access, learning, and communty. During my first few months, it's become clear that these tenants really do serve as our north star. Here is just one example of how our commitment to access, learning, and community manifests in practice: https://lnkd.in/gPMmH5D8

Today on #FlashbackFriday, we at ENTECH Magazine, are celebrating the birth anniversary of Octave Chanute, the American aeronautical engineer whose work significantly influenced the Wright Brothers and the invention of the airplane. 🎉✈️ Following his early retirement, Chanute, a successful engineer, took up the invention of the airplane as a hobby. He utilized his knowledge of strengthening railroad bridges in his experiments with box kites, which he then incorporated into the wing design of gliders. 👨🔬🔬 Chanute's contributions weren't limited just to his inventions. He fostered an informal international community of aeronautical pioneers through his correspondence, organized sessions of aeronautical papers for the professional engineering societies he led, attracted fresh talent and new ideas into the field through his lectures, and produced important publications. 📚🌐 His life serves as a reminder that it's never too late to follow your passion and make a significant impact. Remember, your passion can shape the future. At ENTECH, we are here to help you spark your passion and shape your profession. #OctaveChanute #AeronauticalEngineering #ENTECH

Wisdom Activator 🌀 Learning Architect 🌀Organizational Transformer 🌀Author 🌀 Creator 🌀Living My Preferment
Hit me like a ton of bricks! "You don't need any more ideas, you just need to take action on one!" This is coming through loud and clear. I am participating in an amazing learning program by Stu McLaren called The Membership Experience and today was immersion day. I joined late after returning from a client meeting and the closing remarks from Stu included this. These were not his words but those of his mentor. And it is so true, there are so many ideas I collect and hold on to, and yes some do see the light of day. However I do see how I can 'procrastinate' by being seduced by another idea or an addition to an existing idea. Stu is advising us to do is just choose one and go with it. Take the next right step and clarity will reveal what to do next. And the amazing thing is this, I know this, I advise others to do this, and I now need to heed my own advise. Anyone else out there have this challenge? Maybe we need to be accountability partners to keep each other on track and to actually do something with all these ideas. What ideas are you holding on to that are dying to come to life? Let's do this!!! #progressoverperfection #wiseup
