Yesterday at the Vitalis conference, our very own Petter Wolff provided an insightful summary of the 400-page report from the Swedish government's Investigation on Health Data as a National Interest (S2022:10). The comprehensive report and its proposals, recently submitted to the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, are crucial for anyone interested in the standardization of health data at the national level. It is intended to facilitate the development of interoperability solutions (mainly APIs) to streamline data sharing among healthcare providers. Great debate with high engagement at Folkem⌀det 2024 – how can digital twins support a more sustainable healthcare? Thanks for a fruitful and inspiring panel debate Christoffer Aagaard Melson, Rasmus Møgelvang, Sidsel Vinge, Randi Mondorf and Klaus Larsen, with Jeppe Hoejholt of Medtronic. The debate was moderated by Line Friis Frederiksen. It was discussion about the need of health data availability and access to health data cross-sectorial structures in the healthcare system for facilitating the transforming of healthcare towards more remote care models and home care. Need of national frameworks for escalating Medtech solutions for digitalization but also the importance of local decisions based on the local needs and with high involvement of the clinicians. Early dialogue and a trustful public/private partnership to match the regional- and local needs in the best appropriate way. Hot topics at this year’s Folkem⌀det were the proposals by “Sundhedsstrukturkommissionen”, how digital solutions, artificial intelligence and more utilization of health data can support the healthcare sector. The healthcare structure challenges and how the culture can be improved for closer cooperation between the academic community, the healthcare sector, patients and the companies. Stronger together! This year's 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 (#MTF2024) was a remarkable gathering of minds dedicated to advancing the 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆. Our colleagues Anna Schade and Diana Hohage were privileged to be a part of this influential event, where they engaged with thought leaders and innovators driving the future of healthcare. The forum, brimming with insights on 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆, and 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, highlighted the industry's collective aspiration to lead 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀. The discussions often circled around the intricate dance between industry ambitions and the pace of policy development, emphasizing the mutual goal of achieving better 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀. This interplay, while challenging, also offers a fascinating glimpse into the varied perceptions among 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 and 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀. The conference reinforced the notion that while the industry is eager to 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲, aligning with 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 remains a 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽. This dynamic creates a rich environment for dialogue and collaboration, essential for the continued advancement of medical technology. Amidst the high-level discussions, Anna and Diana had the pleasure of hosting an "𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁" session focused on the 𝗜𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗜𝗩𝗗𝗥). This session was a refreshing departure from theoretical dialogue, delving into 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 faced by the industry. The interaction was highly engaging, spanning across 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 and reflecting the diverse 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀. The session exemplified the forum's potential to address 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀, providing a platform for professionals to 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 and 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. The lively exchange of ideas reaffirmed the importance of collaborative efforts in navigating the regulatory landscape. In conclusion, MedTech Forum 2024 was a testament to the medical technology industry's resilience and innovative spirit. The commitment to digital transformation and purpose-driven advancements was palpable, and the conversations we had will undoubtedly inspire continued progress.
