Enjoyed visiting and learning more about the history of the Alamo here in San Antonio. What are some historical landmarks that have made you passionate about history? My thoughts below:

It's true that many of the stories we learn about our history have been written and told from the perspective of those in power. And it's possible that some of those stories have been manipulated or skewed to fit a certain narrative. However, I don't think it's foolish to believe that there is truth to be found in history, even if it is sometimes difficult to discern. By considering multiple perspectives and sources, we can get a more complete and nuanced understanding of the past. What's your talk on this?

As we recognize National Indigenous History Month, we reflect on the importance of understanding and acknowledging the Indigenous history of the land we reside on. While territorial acknowledgements are widely practiced, it is crucial to deepen our knowledge of the colonial history of the places we live, work and play and to recognize the significance of this land to the Indigenous peoples who were here first. To honour this theme, we are highlighting some areas around the city that is now called Vancouver and looking back on this land before colonization.
