We will be presenting our single center data on patients who were excellent medical candidates for transplant but were turned down for other reasons ( live alone , lack of access to transplant etc ) who underwent HM3 implant . No surprise these patients had great outcomes ! A thought-provoking question arises: Should younger individuals like 27-year-olds skip heart transplant and opt for LVAD initially, given similar survival rates to add to there survival ? It's time for our community to reconsider AHF evaluation, especially at extreme ages. Looking ahead, I am hoping we shift from heart transplant as the "gold standard" to viewing LVAD as an equally vital and complementary strategy . Let's explore how this evolution will shape the landscape of advance heart failure treatment in the years to come!
