Thank you to all the employees who participated in the United Way Action Day last Thursday! More than 70 MTS volunteers packed 500 backpacks with new school supplies for local children who will need them for school this fall. We are grateful for the many ways that the United Way makes a positive impact in our community and are glad we had this opportunity to help kids start the school year with the supplies they need for success! #proudtobeITW

Students, families, educators, and school board members across America are facing unprecedented attacks from far-right extremists who want to dismantle our public schools. But if we show up, speak out, and make our voices heard, we can take back the momentum. The majority of Americans want honest, equitable, and fully funded public schools, just like you. Are you ready to step up in your school district, joining other people from across the country who feel the same as you? Our partners at HEAL Together have kicked off the #PublicSchoolStrong campaign with a monthly training series to give public school parents, family members, educators and supporters from across the country the tools they need to show up and effectively push school districts to promote, protect, and strengthen our public schools. #Education #PublicSchools #PublicSchoolStrong #Educators #Teachers #Students #parents #community #equity #campaign #Fullyfunded #Equitable #Promote #protect #Strengthen #HEALTogether

Every day counts. We all had one teacher like that at school - "Practice makes perfect! That's why you have to do your homework, every day!". Luckily, most of us realised that teacher was right - practice really does make perfect, and when it comes to our learning journey, every day counts to make sure we're learning the important skills we need in our life. We often imagine seriously sick kids to be the ones missing months, or years of school at a time - but they aren't the only ones who can have their schooling turned upside down by illness. Some kids will only miss one day every fortnight for tests or checkups. But after three years, that kid missing only 10% of school may have had their lost learning compound to the equivalent of missing two thirds of a year. Every day counts for them too. MissingSchool's Seen&Heard Initiative exists to provide teachers, kids, and parents with the tools to make sure that every day is properly counted, and that no kid goes without the support they need to stay connected to their school. For information on education support pathways and technology options to keep sick kids connected to their school community. Founder, Resilient Futures (501c3) | Keynote Speaker | Best-Selling Author | Helping schools and communities work more effectively together to better prepare students for a resilient life beyond school.
THE POWER OF A SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP Part 1: Service and Volunteerism It’s evident that for students to thrive both academically and personally, a holistic approach to education is essential. This means schools and communities must work together, creating symbiotic relationships that benefit everyone involved. One of the most impactful ways this partnership can manifest is through community service and volunteerism. - Why Schools and Communities Need Each Other - When schools operate in isolation, they often miss out on the rich resources and opportunities that their communities can offer. Conversely, communities that don't engage with their local schools lose out on the fresh perspectives and youthful energy that students bring. Here’s one reason a collaborative approach is crucial: Community involvement provides students with real-world experiences that textbooks cannot offer. For instance, how are our children supposed to know that the pizza boxes in the pizza establishment they often visit don’t fold themselves; someone has to fold them? Through the Resilient Futures Initiative, we can ensure that students are not only academically prepared but also equipped with the skills and experiences necessary to make a positive impact on the world. Let's work together to make this vision a reality. To join the movement or to learn more, complete the form at the bottom of my webpage and I’ll add you to my list: https://lnkd.in/ggtDct-b * these AI-generated images are always interesting. 😁 #ResilientFutures #ResilientFuturesInitiative #AmyThurman #Service #Volunteerism

How has your school experience made a difference in your life? For our #SchoolSuccess Drive with Cornerstone Advocacy Services Christian, our Recruiter, shares how his education pushed him to achieve his goals. "My education has been pivotal in shaping who I am today. It provided structure, helped me establish a daily routine, and laid down important foundations. Transitioning from high school to college was a reality check that required effort, time, and encouragement to push towards achieving great things. Balancing academics, social life, and personal time was a significant life lesson that molded me into the person I am now. These experiences have been invaluable in my growth." Education is a powerful tool that shapes our future. It equips us with knowledge and skills, instills values, builds character, and opens doors to opportunities. That's why providing essential school supplies is crucial. As families and children start a new from experiencing violence, accessing essential resources can be challenging due to financial constraints. Providing school supplies gives them a positive start on their path to recovery. Support this cause at: https://buff.ly/4exEIEy #CommunitySupport #GivingBack #PositiveChange #AwardCares

There are numerous examples of excellent #schoolleaders positively transforming what goes on inside the school fence without it impacting on the school’s #reputation in the #community. The sad thing about this is that many prospective parents will be more influenced by the reputation of the school in the community than by what the school has to offer their children. . Read our blog below to find out why REPUTATION always wins. . https://lnkd.in/gzGxScRu

Servant | Pastor | Author | Speaker | Working Genius Coach | Church Evangelist | Steward of Gloo’s Ministry Innovation @gloo.us | Research Fellow for nonprofit organizations
In our network of churches, we've noticed a common trend: the average congregant stays for about 7 years, except for our military-serving churches where it's around 24 months. Similarly, in higher ed, student tenure is shorter as well but the challenges the same! Instead of solely prioritizing attendance numbers, let's shift our focus to the lasting impact we're creating. Are we equipping our members or students with the necessary skills, values, and resources to succeed beyond their time with us? Are we cultivating a supportive community that continues to nurture their growth long after they've moved on? As an example - what if your youth pastor was held accountable to not how many nights of bowling they did while that student was in the youth ministry. But rather - did that youth stay connected to their faith beyond the bowling events / youth programming once they moved from youth to college or even adult worship? #ministry #impact #measuresuccess
