It's time for #defcon31, and Policy at DEF CON kicks off tomorrow! Hackers are an indispensable resource for policymakers across the country. They understand the technology and can--when empowered and provided access--speak truth to power. People whose names and faces are unknown to senior decisionmakers hold the knowledge that can steer government away from snake oil and toward courses of action that actually make a difference for #infosec. CTI Files #4 starts to connect some dots but is just getting started. More whistleblowers have come forward. “IN SUM: In sum, the gang’s all here. The principals from New Knowledge (Morgan and DiResta) and the Alliance for Securing Democracy (Watts), all key figures from Hamilton68, all also have ties to Terp, CTIL, and MisInfoSec, operations which openly embrace the idea of the pre-emptive, “left of boom” informational strike, yammering repeatedly about “psyops” and the need to “proactively” interrupt speech that is “not desired.” Maybe it’s chance that the authors of high-tech fakes like Hamilton68 just happen to cross-pollinate over and over with this DHS-endorsed program. It’s early days and we’re still spotting these connections, but sometimes, when a surplus of coincidence looks wrong, it is.” https://lnkd.in/gbgFTsyx?

On behalf of InfraGard Indiana Members Alliance (IIMA), we have some important information to share about the recent election. Due to technical and messaging challenges, the Board of Directors has unanimously determined that we must set aside the election that was held between October 24, 2023 and November 2, 2023. Please note that there were no nefarious or unethical actions that impacted the prior election effort that led to this decision. You can rest assured that our determination is purely a matter of technical operability and messaging that we determined did not serve the membership as we would expect. As such, we are rectifying that situation. The Board of Directors has informed all previous candidates of the decision and a new election will be held, including nominations. Here are the dates for the new election: · Nominations: November 13, 2023 - November 17, 2023 · Election: November 27, 2023 – December 8, 2023 · Election Results Communicated: December 13, 2023 Elected Board of Directors serve a two (2) year term. The following Officer positions are currently open: · President · Vice President · Treasurer There are also three (3) Director positions open. IMPORTANT NOTE: Your InfraGard membership number is needed in order to vote. Your membership number is located on your membership I.D. card. To download your membership card, go to the www.infragard.org and click on “Tools” (upper right corner) and “Download Membership Card”. The ID number is printed above the InfraGard logo.

Senior Director of Federal Affairs @FGA // I Lead The FGA Team Tasked With Building Effective Partnerships With Federal Policymakers And Their Staff To Advance Policies That Improve Lives
Yesterday, the House Appropriations Committee released the FY25 CJS bill which includes a provision that would prevent the FBI from developing a new headquarters in D.C. Read my past op-ed to see why this is a good idea. With the Hoover building crumbling, and trust in the FBI at an all-time low, it's time to chart a new course for the FBI by consolidating, reorganizing, and relocating most of FBI headquarters out of the D.C. area. Not only would this benefit the FBI itself, but more importantly, it would benefit the American people. https://lnkd.in/gvUhX7Tu https://lnkd.in/gvUhX7Tu
