Gratitude: The Real Secret to Thriving Organizations Gratitude at work isn’t about tossing out blanket “thank yous” or insincere praise. People see right through that—and it can do more harm than good. Real gratitude is specific, timely, and meaningful. It shows that you see the person, their effort, and their contribution. Here’s how to make gratitude a real part of your workplace culture: 1️⃣ **Be Specific and Genuine** Skip the generic “great job, team.” Instead, say, “Thank you, Sarah, for stepping up and handling that tight deadline—it made a huge difference for the client.” Specificity shows you’re paying attention, and it lands so much better. 2️⃣ **Make It a Habit, Not a One-Off** Gratitude thrives in consistency. In meetings, carve out time to acknowledge contributions, or make a point to send a quick, heartfelt email to someone who went above and beyond. 3️⃣ **It Starts at the Top** Leaders, your example matters. Be intentional about how and when you express gratitude. And don’t just praise results—acknowledge the effort, creativity, or resilience it took to get there. Gratitude isn’t about being nice for the sake of it. It’s about fostering trust, connection, and motivation. When done authentically, it can transform workplace culture—and it doesn’t cost a thing. How do you practice gratitude in your organization? Let’s exchange ideas and create cultures that thrive! #Gratitude #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #PositivePsychology #Authenticity

💡It’s that time of year where many organisations are restructuring, people are reviewing their current career choice and many people are feeling a bit burnt out. It is also that time of year where many of us get caught up in the ‘doing’ opposed to the ‘being’ and the focus on people gets missed. A key reason many people leave organisations is the lack of appreciation & recognition. Many organisations are performance-based and look at gratitude and self-reflective time as indulgent. The reality is that workplaces need to create a culture of gratitude. Within and outside the workplace it doesn’t take much to make others feel valued and appreciated. In today’s ever-changing workplace, gratitude makes people feel good; it reinforces the positives and drives motivation and resilience through support and encouragement. ✅Here are a few ideas for expressing gratitude in the workplace: • During team meetings, share what each of you has learnt and enjoyed from working with each other. • Ask: Who and what are you grateful for? • Send surprise emails to others expressing appreciation. • Adopt the 3:1 ratio- for every negative share, three positives. • Create a forum to share internal updates and encourage people to share. 🍂 Building a Culture of Gratitude 🍂 Gratitude isn't just a nice thing to have—it’s an essential skill in the workplace. Think about a time when your co-worker or boss thanked you for something (even when you were just doing your job!). It felt good, didn't it? Research shows that teams that express appreciation are more productive, innovative, and cohesive. This is the power of gratitude in action, inspiring us to reach new heights in our work. And as we celebrate Thanksgiving, it’s the perfect time to reflect on how gratitude can transform workplace culture. Here are three simple ways to foster a culture of gratitude in your organization: 1️⃣ Start from the Top: Leadership is pivotal in setting the tone. When leaders openly acknowledge and appreciate contributions, it inspires others to do the same and empowers them to foster a culture of gratitude. Gratitude is indeed contagious, and it starts with us. 2️⃣ Make It a Habit: Incorporate gratitude into team rituals. For example, kick-off meetings include a “shout-out” session where team members thank colleagues for their efforts. 3️⃣ Personalize Your Thanks: A generic "thank you" is nice, but specific and thoughtful appreciation shows you genuinely value someone’s effort. Could you make it meaningful, whether handwritten notes or a quick instant message? Gratitude isn’t just about saying "thanks"; it’s about creating a workplace where everyone feels seen, valued, and motivated. 💬 What’s one way your organization encourages gratitude? Let’s share ideas to keep the gratitude flowing beyond the holiday season! Please share your experiences, and let's learn from each other. #Gratitude #WorkplaceCulture #Leadership #Thanksgiving #EmployeeEngagement #Teamwork

Building a Culture of Gratitude: More Than Just "Thank You" Gratitude at work isn’t just about saying “thanks”—it’s about fostering an environment where people feel valued, seen, and motivated to bring their best every day. So how do you build a culture of gratitude that’s genuine and lasting? Here are a few things I’ve learned: ✅ Make It a Habit, Not a Holiday Gratitude shouldn’t be reserved for special occasions. Recognizing great work should be part of daily interactions—whether it’s a quick Slack message, a handwritten note, or a shoutout in a meeting. ✅ Be Specific and Meaningful A vague “great job” is nice, but a specific acknowledgment (“Your creativity on that campaign really made a difference!”) has a much greater impact. When people know exactly what they’re being appreciated for, they’re more likely to repeat those behaviors. (Ever heard of the SBI feedback model)? ✅ Lead by Example Culture starts at the top. Leaders who consistently express gratitude—publicly and privately—set the tone for the entire organization. When leaders recognize contributions, it creates a ripple effect. ✅ Empower Peer-to-Peer Recognition Gratitude shouldn’t just flow downward. When employees celebrate each other’s contributions, it strengthens teams and breaks down silos. Consider programs where team members can easily recognize their colleagues. ✅ Tie It to Your Values Gratitude is most powerful when it aligns with company values. If innovation is a core value, recognize those who bring creative solutions. If customer service is key, celebrate those who go the extra mile. The result? A workplace where people feel valued, connected, and inspired to do great work—not because they have to, but because they want to. When was the last time you told a team member, “I appreciate what you bring to the table” or acknowledged the impact of their efforts? At Lr, we often see how the simplest expressions of gratitude can transform team dynamics. Recognition is more than just a “nice-to-have.” It’s a cornerstone of effective leadership, team well-being, and sustained success. Why Gratitude and Recognition Matter * Boosts Engagement and Morale: Employees who feel appreciated are more engaged, motivated, and likely to go the extra mile. Gratitude fosters a sense of belonging. * Strengthens Relationships: Genuine recognition creates trust and connection, building bridges across teams and hierarchies. * Reduces Stress and Burnout: Gratitude shifts focus from pressure and overwhelm to positivity, improving mental resilience for both individuals and teams. Here are strategies we’ve shared with our clients that have made a real impact: * Be Specific and Timely: Instead of a generic “great job,” say, “Your attention to detail on the project made the presentation seamless—thank you for going above and beyond!” * Celebrate Wins—Big and Small: Don’t wait for major milestones to recognize effort. Small gestures, like a quick shoutout in a meeting or a handwritten note, can mean just as much. * Make Gratitude a Team Habit: Create a culture where team members regularly acknowledge each other. Peer recognition can be just as powerful as praise from leadership. * Link Recognition to Values: Tie feedback to your organizational mission or values, reinforcing purpose: “Your leadership on this initiative truly embodies our commitment to collaboration and innovation.” A Special Thank You: Speaking of gratitude, we want to take a moment to thank YOU—our LinkedIn community. We’ve been deeply touched by the support, encouragement, and engagement we’ve received. Your belief in our mission inspires us to keep growing and delivering value. A Quick Challenge: Take a moment today to express gratitude to someone on your team. Watch how it shifts not only their day but yours, too. If you’re curious about building a culture of gratitude and recognition, let’s talk. It’s a small change with a big ripple effect. Thank you for being part of our journey. 💛 #GratitudeAtWork #EmployeeEngagement #TeamRecognition #LeadershipDevelopment #ThrivingTeams
