Student at Galala university skills in the ability to apply scientific knowledge and skills to practical situations Cytogenetic labs, molecular labs and sampling labs
🔬✨ From Bench to Bioinformatics: My Journey in the World of Genomic Data in Romania 🇷🇴 ✨🔬 Stepping into the bioinformatics lab for the first time was like entering a new realm of scientific discovery. The hum of computers processing massive datasets, the collaborative energy of brilliant minds working together, and the potential for groundbreaking insights made every moment thrilling. During my time at the Oncology Research Institute, I had the incredible opportunity to bridge my molecular biotechnology expertise with bioinformatics. 🧬🔍 Analyzing genomic data from clinical trials, I learned to navigate powerful tools like BLAST and FASTA and honed my skills in Python and R. 📊💻 One evening, as I sifted through layers of data, I discovered a recurring mutation in a specific gene across multiple patient samples. This finding led to a series of experiments that unveiled new pathways in cancer progression, highlighting the profound impact bioinformatics can have on understanding and treating diseases. Working in the bioinformatics lab not only expanded my technical skills but also reinforced my passion for integrating data-driven insights with molecular research. I’m excited to continue exploring this dynamic field and contribute to innovations that can transform healthcare. 🚀 Ready to collaborate, innovate, and push the boundaries of what's possible in bioinformatics! #Bioinformatics #MolecularBiotechnology #Genomics #CancerResearch #DataScience #HealthcareInnovation #Python #R #ClinicalTrials #ResearchJourney #ScientificDiscovery

Bioinformatics for Biologists: Analysing and Interpreting Genomics Datasets – Weeks 1 & 2 I’m excited to share that I’ve completed the first two weeks of the "Bioinformatics for Biologists" course! In Week 1, we laid a solid foundation by learning about environment variables and installing essential bioinformatics tools. We explored next-generation sequencing (NGS), its significance, and various file formats. Additionally, we covered the steps involved in an NGS pipeline, including sequence quality control, mapping, and variant calling, and practiced running commands on the UNIX command line. In Week 2, we focused on workflows and workflow management systems like Nextflow. We learned how to automate complex tasks with Nextflow, explored the viralrecon pipeline from the nf-core project, set up a samplesheet, and ran the pipeline ourselves. We also examined the outputs to assess data quality for downstream analyses. A highlight was hearing from Dr. Phelelani T. Mpangase, a professional bioinformatician, about how Nextflow has transformed his approach to large genomics datasets. These experiences are already proving invaluable for my future studies and research in bioinformatics and clinical biochemistry! Bioinformatics requires constant practice to stay proficient, and I'm committed to continually honing these skills. Happy learning 😁 #Bioinformatics #Genomics #ClinicalBiochemistry #Nextflow #LearningJourney #DataScience
