Today, Friday, June 21, 2024, is the fifth PJM Peak Demand Alert that Muirfield Energy has distributed since June 17, 2024. The forecasted peak demand for today is 149,125 megawatts. Today may possibly be one of the final 5CP days for the summer of 2024. An update on my energy post from yesterday. It turns out that the PJM didn't include RMR power plants in the capacity auction. RMR is Reliability Must Run. Essentially outdated plants or plants that are supposed to be shut down due to regulations must stay available to insure the grid stays reliable. This should reduce the amount prices will increase. But they will still increase. My personal opinion is that all the data centers being built in the mid-west should cover the cost of increasing the capacity. https://lnkd.in/gP-WZV9A
