Earlier this week, the Mulberry Schools Trust had the pleasure of filming a promotional video for our brand-new school, Mulberry Academy London Dock. A heartfelt thank you to Kier Construction for coordinating such a successful day and to all the incredible delivery partners who joined us – Architype, Walsh - Structural, Civil & Geotechnical Engineers and representatives from the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Your contributions have helped tell the inspiring story behind this exceptional new school. From its innovative design to its construction, the video will highlight how collaboration has shaped a school that serves the Wapping community. We’re so excited to see the final cut and share it with you all soon! Stay tuned! 🎞️ 📽️

November marks Historic Bridge Awareness Month, a time dedicated to celebrating the engineering achievements and historical importance of bridges that have been vital to transportation and community growth. To celebrate, we’re highlighting several historic Michael Baker International bridge projects. The Three Sisters Bridges are perhaps the most iconic in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, spanning the Allegheny River and connecting the downtown business district to North Shore. The crossings were built between 1924 and 1928 and required rehabilitation because of accelerating age-related deterioration. Partnering with owner Allegheny County, Michael Baker provided preliminary engineering, final design and construction-phase services for the rehabilitation project. As the longest steel arch in the country and second-longest steel-arch in the world, at 1,700 feet, the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville, West Virginia, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 14, 2013, for its exceptional impact on local transportation and its engineering significance. Hired in 1967, Michael Baker provided comprehensive engineering services for the design and construction of the bridge. The Winona Bridge spans the Mississippi River, connecting Trunk Highway 43 between the inland port of Winona, Minnesota, and the state of Wisconsin. Built in 1942, this 2,288-foot structure stands as an iconic historical landmark and is Minnesota's only remaining prewar cantilever-through-truss bridge. A 2008 inspection revealed significant deterioration. In 2014, Michael Baker was appointed as the Engineer of Record for its rehabilitation. The bridge reopened in July 2019, preserving its historic character and uniqueness in line with the Minnesota Historic Preservation Office's standards. #HistoricBridgePreservation #HistoricBridgeAwarenessMonth #BridgeEngineering #IconicStructures

20 homes on foundations, plants in the ground, and equipment on the playground! Move-in day for wildfire survivors is finally on the horizon. Beyond move-in, we'll set our sights on Phase 2: "Homes for Good is in the process of procuring the 20 Manufactured/Modular homes and once purchased will be working closely with OHCS, Lane County, and assigned case managers to work with individuals and families that were displaced by the Holiday Farm Fire to connect them to this housing opportunity. The project will address inequitable access to high quality housing in low-income rural communities and community revitalization post disaster."
CRANE DAY! This week our team was able to witness the FINAL THREE modular homes being placed on their foundations at Lazy Days! Thank you to our partners at Lane County Government , Oregon Housing and Community Services , IdeaBox, Meili Construction Co., and Blazer Industries

Exciting news! We're continuing to improve safety in Ravalli County over the next couple of years with two key projects in Hamilton, funded by MDT's Transportation Alternatives program: Marcus Street Shared-Use Path: Over the next year, we'll be providing design and construction management services to the City of Hamilton for this important connectivity project. Daly School Path: Currently in the design phase, this project will connect the community's path network and provide a safe route for students along Golf Course Road and Kurtz Lane. We’re thrilled to be part of making Hamilton more connected!

The University of Michigan Center for Innovation, the Cosm project by Dan Gilbert’s Bedrock, and a JW Marriott hotel on the Detroit River are just a few of the projects that our team at Crain's Detroit Business will be tracking in the New Year. As Elizabeth Schanz and Kirk Pinho write, “Development in today's Detroit seems to be ever-present: looming cranes, fenced-in construction sites and piles of dirt.” As we prepare to close out 2024, here is a look at eight construction projects to watch in 2025: https://lnkd.in/g3Khv6PH #detroit #michigan #construction #business

Longtime friends Darren Kiesler (’05 Arch.) and Boone Helm (’03 Comm.) run the Big Door Company, which installs and automates large door systems throughout the western United States and British Columbia. “Big” is not an overstatement. The company installs some jaw-dropping windows and doors. “We did a project in Canada that had 20-foot-tall, automated doors on a private residence. Another project out by Wallowa Lake had steel-frame windows, just massively architecturally striking, right on the lake,” Kiesler says.
