RED METAL LIMITED recently announced the results of their first proof-of-concept impurity removal trial on their Sybella rare earth ore. The trial, carried out by Core Resources Pty Ltd, led to the successful precipitation of a potentially saleable mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC) product. The MREC product contained 48.7% Total Rare Earth Oxides (TREO), with 39.5% being high-value Magnet Rare Earth Oxides (MREO) and 26.6% Heavy Rare Earth Oxides (HREO). Achieved using low-cost alkali reagents, the product features high recovery rates for key elements and low levels of impurities. Although further optimisation is needed, this successful maiden production paves the way for developing a premium MREC product, significantly advancing the Sybella project. Beneficiation can produce different grades of spodumene concentrate for a variety of applications.
