Racism, and not Race affects women of color. We must go beyond talking about it, and take action. Action can be individual, as an organization, community/ society. 1. Patients should self-advocate. Write down your concerns. Speak up! Take a friend, family, colleague, or partner with you for clinical evaluation. 2. Learn the warning signs of #maternalmortality from #CDC or reputable societies like #ACOG 3. Community ownership is a big one. Communities must continue to speak up and educate the populace. Use events like baby showers, and sorority events to discuss important issues. Knowledge is Power! 4. Organizations and hospital systems are not left out :) 😄 Normalize discussions about respectful care, cultural competency, etc. The Cleveland Clinic Center for Infant and Maternal Health was created to address the above. We support at-risk birthing people and women during pregnancy and the first year of infant life. We acknowledge the role of structural racism in maternal and infant mortality and in addition to evidence-based excellent care, support our patients with: - Obstetric navigators - Community health workers - Perinatal Doulas. #blackhealth #blackmama #maternalmortality #maternalmentalhealth #maternalchildhealth #infanthealth
Racism in pregnancy care affects people of color every day. In our new expert view, an ob-gyn shares stories of Black patients’ concerns about being unheard and overlooked. Read this firsthand account of racial inequities in pregnancy care: https://bit.ly/3Iku0SK #BlackHistoryMonth #BHM

💡Teenage pregnancy presents a significant public health concern. 💡Pregnancy of 19 years and below is referred to as Teenage pregnancy. 💡It poses preventable health risks for both the mother and the infant with cases of eclampsia, puerperal endometritis and systemic infections. 💡Often, teenage pregnancies are unplanned and can significantly disrupt the educational, personal, and socioeconomic development of both the young parents and their child. 💡Furthermore, teenage pregnancy can have a lasting demographic impact on future generations. How then do we stop teenage pregnancy? How do our society play a role in teenage pregnancy prevention? How can education, campaigns and sensitization bring about a change? Let's make a team here I'm open for collaboration✨ photo credit: Africa health organization on Girl's teenage pregnancy program #teenagepreganancy #education #publichealth #awareness #healtheducation

One of the biggest things that holds pregnancy centers back. → Not utilizing video content I see it all the time. Pregnancy centers put so much effort into posting graphics and generic photos on Instagram and Facebook. Then find out they aren’t reaching abortion vulnerable women through strategic, targeted content. The solution? Film 15-60 second videos. The goal is... test a variety of content. Here are some video examples to try: 1. Signs and symptoms of pregnancy 2. Explain how they can book their FREE service online 3. Walk them through the appointment process P.S. Repost if you learned something new ♻️
