Designer Joris de Groot, whom you could visit during our latest show in the SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS forum, often collaborates directly with factories, setting up his workplace within their grounds to get a deep understanding of their materials and innovate with their existing techniques. This allows him to blend traditional craftsmanship with industrial processes, resulting in unique and sustainable designs. His project “2000N Pressed Shoe” (2018) emerged from his project “In4nite II” with Freudenberg, a company specializing in car interior materials. Joris explored the potential of Colback®, a material used in car upholstery, to create shoes. By understanding and experimenting with the molding process used in automotive interiors, he transformed Colback® into a fashion material. “2000N Pressed Shoe” is distinctive for its use of industrial techniques to create aesthetic details, showcasing the intricate patterns and textures that arise from this innovative process. After five years, the globally significant trend researcher Li Edelkoort returned to MUNICH FABRIC START on September 4, 2024, and inspired the audience live with her exclusive Private Lecture. Under the theme "Illustration", she presented the trends for Autumn.Winter 25/26 and provided exciting insights into future developments in fashion and textiles, as well as upcoming color trends. She relies not only on photographs but also on paintings and posters to visualize her predictions. As the main trend for the next season, she identified Paris – as a city, as a feeling, and as effortless elegance. With all the unrest in the world, she calls for establishing a fashionable contrast: harmonious and orderly rather than chaotic and disordered. “With everything that is happening in the world, all the war and chaos, we need to clean up. At least lookwise. Our outfits need to look very put together and neat and symbolize all the good. Let ́s have a bit of humor and creativity. We say no to bad feelings!” Edelkoort stated. Her return to Munich marked a highlight of the fair and reaffirmed her status as a leading voice in trend forecasting. Read more here >> https://bit.ly/4eiJZPd
