As leaders climb 📈 the corporate ladder, they encounter two significant challenges. Challenge #1: Information Overload 📊 In leadership positions, one is bombarded with data from individuals, teams, and business centers. Without being organized and process-oriented, it's easy to become overwhelmed and exhausted trying to identify which tasks are important, urgent, and valuable. Developing a criteria to understand which information aids in making better decisions is crucial. This quality of discerning necessary information at leadership levels is no longer a differentiating factor; it becomes a necessity to be productive and effective. Challenge #2: Distance from ground reality 🧐 With seniority comes a certain distance from day-to-day operations. Yet, understanding the on-the-ground realities of your teams and organization is crucial. It empowers a leader to craft effective strategies based on actual circumstances rather than strategies developed from exaggerated information you receive from in-groups. This increases the likelihood of teams turning strategies into reality. So, as leaders, ensure you stay connected at all levels, talk to different people 🗣️, avoid sycophants, and grasp the pulse of your employees. #leadership #leadershipandmanagement #strategicleadership #informationoverload #ExpectationVsReality #feedbackmatters

What is executive presence and how has it evolved over the past decade? According to a recent survey by Harvard Business Review, the definition of executive presence has shifted. Aspiring leaders should take note of these insights: 1. Gravitas with a Touch of Inclusivity: While confidence, decisiveness, and a strong vision are still important, inclusivity is now equally crucial. Creating an environment where every team member feels valued and supported is key. 2. Communication Skills for the Digital Era: Clear speaking and writing, coupled with the ability to captivate an audience, remain crucial. In addition, modern leaders must excel in listening and learning, adopting a collaborative communication style. 3. Authenticity Over Traditional Appearance: Appearance is still important, but authenticity now trumps traditional notions of "professional" appearance. Leaders are expected to reveal their true selves. This paradigm shift in executive presence reflects a broader transformation in leadership ideals. Embracing these traits can be a game changer for those aspiring to climb the leadership ladder. #HarvardBusinessReview #ExecutivePresence #Leadership #Inclusivity #CommunicationSkills #Authenticity

🌟 The Power of Consistency in Leadership 🌟 Consistency is an often overlooked but essential trait of a great leader. It has the power to maintain a sense of calm and stabilize expectations within an organization. As leaders, we should strive to provide consistent answers and responses, regardless of the changing circumstances. Imagine a scenario where the question remains the same, but the names, places, and implications differ. A consistent leader ensures that the answer remains unchanged, regardless of emotional, financial, or legal considerations. This unwavering approach fosters a stable environment, where expectations are crystal clear. By embodying consistency, we cultivate trust and dependability within our teams. Employees can rely on consistent answers and responses, which in turn boosts their confidence and productivity. Our commitment to consistency not only enhances our leadership skills, but also fosters an atmosphere of stability and trust. Let's remember the incredible impact that consistency can have on our leadership journey. By embracing this trait, we can create a thriving work environment where everyone knows what to expect and feels supported. #Leadership #Consistency #Stability #Trust

🔥 Hot Take coming… In a world where business needs often overshadow individual care, we envision a future where human-centric leadership redefines the workplace. The data shows that prioritizing the individual does not conflict with achieving business goals, revenue, or outcomes. We are not workers who go home but humans who go to work. That’s why I decided to start a new mission, business, and goal. My mission with The Human-Centric Leader is to empower leaders to place the individual at the heart of their decision-making. Through comprehensive training, courses, workshops, and more, we’re equipping leaders and managers with the skills to truly lead their teams, manage conflicts, advocate for their members, and foster a thriving, empathetic work culture. By embracing a "human-first" mindset, leaders can drive both personal and organizational success. #FractionalExecutive #Leadership #PivotStudios

Do you have executive presence? And what even is it? I found this article by Sylvia Ann Hewlett really interesting. Executive presence is viewed as a mix of three factors: gravitas, communication, and appearance. With all the changes we've experienced over the last few years, there have been some significant shifts in the traits within these factors. * Gravitas: Confidence and decisiveness remain the most important traits, however inclusiveness and respect for others have emerged as highly significant traits. * Communication: Superior speaking skills are still important, but adaptability to digital platforms and a genuine, relatable demeanor are gaining importance. * Appearance: Authenticity now outweighs traditional norms. For today's leaders, this means integrating inclusiveness, empathy, and authenticity with traditional leadership qualities. What do you think of these evolving traits of executive presence? How will these shifts impact your own approach to leadership? (Link to the article is in the comments). #ExecutivePresence #Leadership

When you ask employees “who are your leaders?” Without fail it’s usually answered exclusively with the names of managers and executives. So, as much as people want to say here that anyone can be and everyone is a leader, leader = boss to most (in the physical/hierarchical sense). However in the human impact sense, the *real* leaders among the bosses, as this Gapingvoid Culture Design Group post notes, have empathy and discipline… and I’ll add “vision” too, but all focused on the people they lead not the businesses they helped grow. Early in my career I worked under some great boss leaders; direct, compassionate, purposeful, honest and human. No manipulation, no power plays, no duplicity, no sense of entitlement - shout out to some like Dr. Mark Eley, Alice Bauder, Michael Campion, Sheryl Galinski, and David Sokolowski. In addition to the characteristics noted above, they also showed EMPATHY by taking the time to learn about what *I* was passionate about, good at, and they had the DISCIPLINE to connect my purpose with that of the organization. They knew that if I could flourish, the organization would flourish too. Leaders like these also had the VISION to see that elevating individual uniqueness makes a real difference in people and as such, powers the business forward. #Leadership #Leaders #Purpose https://lnkd.in/et2jv7qh
