As accountants, part of our role is to be an independent voice, guiding businesses toward smart decisions and reporting accurate results. Just like a seed needs the right environment to flourish, your business needs a trusted financial advisor to fuel its growth. "Le cordonnier est le plus mal chaussé" or "The shoemaker is the worst shod"! Should it be like this? The difference may be, resides in the open-mindedness, curiosity and the awareness to look after yourself, as you would for your employer/ clients/ business. I often meet top professionals who are not aware of the methods and tools available in the fields of personal Wealth (Money) Management. It is surprising to see that they apply their minds only at their workplace. Accountants and Finance people (middle to senior level) are paradoxically often the least up to date about the new (since 30 years!) methods - too busy counting other people’s money 🤔. They should learn from (some of) their Partners! Lawyers are too busy fighting for others. As for Engineers and IT/ Technical people, sorry to say that they live-up to the expectations 🤣! Many CEOs and M.Ds are too busy minding their business the traditional way... Recently I met the Group CEO of a very big business group, and he and his Financial Controller were astounded to discover investment products denominated in $/€/£! Yet in each industry and profession there some people (fortunately ☺) who are savvy and knowledgeable, and silently getting far ahead their peers with the modern techniques of Wealth (Money) Management.💡

𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫? 👉 Reece Bilton tells us everything we need to know about how he got to where he is today as Financial Controller at the John Good Group. One statement made by Reece is key for any role as he says, "Push your boundaries and try to take on new work, this is obviously not the preferred easy route, but the more exposure you get whether that be by choice or instruction, the more confidence you will get dealing with different situations. It will be hard, and you will make mistakes, but hopefully you’ll learn from those mistakes, knowing how to fix and avoid the mistake going forward." 👇 To read more about Reece's journey, click the link in the comments below.

I know this makes me sound like a geek but I love Finance. … Why does finance excite me? It’s all about impact. In my previous roles, a nod from non-finance colleagues meant everything. It wasn’t just approval. It was proof of my impact. When partners from other functions sought my advice, it was clear. I was adding value. Now, working with a diverse client base, the thrill has grown. The variety is exhilarating. Seeing the tangible results of my efforts? Incredibly satisfying. Making a difference isn’t just part of the job. It’s what drives me every day. Each client's success is a personal win. It’s not just business—it’s personal satisfaction.
