Engineers Australia what is the difference between your "discipline-based college" and "technical society"? Both seems to do the same thing. One seems to be broader in topic/field. Please elaborate. I think this is a interesting idea. For me I am looking at organising Co-Creation for degree programmes using programme leads (cohort leads). To do this well will take a lot of work. But I think it's important. At the same time I need to meet my deadlines. Maybe existing staff would be a substitute to students. For me that would be the student experience team in the Business School. But it's often better for students to student communication is better plus additional work for staff may not be possible if there isn't slack in the system. I would be interested in EUSA's view on the issue. As a similar things happens with PALS schemes where leaders on the schemes are paid to take burden from staff and organise and maintain the schemes. But elected reps are not paid nor have budget to act unless it's applying for grants. Maybe we should have applied for grants for these. But I didn't have the foresight of my own workload or possibility to see the opportunities when the schemes were open. Anyways creating a network of volunteers to help the school would be good. Program reps are that. But program reps are expected to be collectors of feedback but further opportunities for involvement are massive but sporadic. Such as joining certain committees and rallying around certain issues. Hence in the short term I would empower the program reps and other students in your school. This would help you and give them experience and amazing sounding titles (for CVs and interviews). (If anyone wants to get involved in this please message me). In the long term EUSA needs to make it clear the role of elected representatives. Is my role to simply provide the student voice at all levels. Or should I also act on it. Currently I am trying to act on it by prompting the discussions and spearheading change. I think having Elected Reps as empowered change makers is beneficial to Sabbatical officers and the wider university. Educating elected reps on how to organise student groups to rally around objectives and campaigns. Alongside a system for empowering programme reps and other students as change makers would be amazing.
