So Whataburger is singing super excitedly about bringing back the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Strip Sandwich. On the surface, this might seem like a straightforward re-launch of a fan favorite. But one must look beyond the obvious to understand such market / marketing moves. Why this item? Why now? Let me explain. Whataburger's core market is Texas. It houses 72% of it's restaurants. It has always been a Lone Star State favorite. (For the record, I love me a Whataburger over McDs ANY DAY). This supremacy is being challenged by a few new entrants. Especially by Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers. As the name suggests, Raising Cane's does chicken fingers really well. Add to this, by the last count, Whataburger had about 56 restaurants in the Houston Area (It's largest metro market) while as this week, Raising Cane's is at around 49. Not far behind and catching up. Given Raising Cane's Chicken Finger supremacy (Their menu has just 5 times...all based on Chicken Fingers), brands are in a need to respond with their own offering and build a chicken moat to strip off the competition's growth. It would be interesting to see if this launch/campaign has the intended effect of getting folks excited about Whataburger for their Chicken menu and stop the customer bleed. #Food #FoodMarketing #QSR #CMO #Whataburger #RaisingCanes

What powerful lesson did I learn when I started Tauro? Sell something people need. When I moved out of my dorm, I was in desperate need of high-protein, healthy, and affordable meals when I didn't have time to cook. I realized a ton of my friends felt the same way. Eating at chipotle 1-2x a day was getting old. And the other quick options? Too many salads, sandwiches, or burgers. This made me think... What do alot of active, busy, young professionals/students want day-to-day? Protein. Whether it's wanting to look better, feel better, or a combination of the two... people always are looking for the high-protein option. And what better way to do that then through infusing classic americana steakhouse flavors into a meal with real ingredients your 12-year old cousin can pronounce? Our first dinner with friends turned into a 20-person small event, which turned into $6000 in sales in only 18 service hours. Now we're planning on launching our first store in Q3 2025.
