As an account manager, I always had a consultative, people-first approach to sales. Clients want to feel like you're talking to them like a human, not just another # to get through on your call list. I got to know my clients on a deeper level, and approached every sale as a joint effort to meet their needs. I wasn't a Verizon rep, I was their personal shopper helping them navigate through Verizon's products and services. We were one team together.
