It's been a few months since our #ClimateSolutionsConference... but seeing this video of the day from one of our Oxfordshire Greentech members (the brilliant Mario Crispino of Videoworkx) has brought it all back! Featuring two streams - our "climate tech zone" and the "sustainability transition zone" - our conference featured a range of solutions to the climate and ecological crisis, from retrofitting black cabs to sustainable aviation fuel to nationally-leading energy transition projects to a sustainability action planning workshop led by experts. And we had lots of great panel discussions, exploring how we can build on and accelerate climate action as a community. The day was full of positivity and what one delegate called "proper solutions". Bingo, mission achieved. 😎 We've got so much to offer in Oxfordshire - from our powerful universities, to our innovative business community, to our climate-focused local authorities. 🟢 We are delighted to announce the launch of the Climate City Capital Hub, a first-of-its-kind initiative and a major step forward under the European Commission’s “100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities” Mission. The Capital Hub seeks to address the €650bn funding gap identified for climate action in cities within the 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission, as well as the need for the financing of climate resilience infrastructure across #Europe more broadly.  For cities, the Capital Hub brings together public and private investors and risk mitigation facilities to fund sustainable #urban development across areas such as Built Environment, Energy, Mobility, Nature-based solutions, and Waste and Water.   For investors, the Capital Hub offers an opportunity to tap into this vast pipeline of fundable, financially viable projects. “The launch of the Capital Hub represents an important milestone for cities to access finance to achieve their net zero goals. The Capital Hub provides a combination of resources, skills, and a neutral balance sheet that can significantly improve outcomes for cities and their citizens. We’re thrilled that Oh Yes! Net Zero has been featured in a book showcasing the very best world-wide examples of climate change problem-solving collaboration between local government, business, academia and citizens.    "Empowering Smart Cities through Community-Centred Public Partnerships and Innovations” explores how cities and local stakeholders can come together to share knowledge and expertise to co-create solutions to challenges including climate change, digitalisation and innovation, economic revitalisation and social inclusion.   Its editors Debra Lam and Andrea Fernandez (C40 Cities) are leading lights in their fields of smart cities and urban innovation and climate change and sustainability.    The chapter about Oh Yes! As an advocate for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11, I believe that creating sustainable cities and communities is not just an aspiration but a necessity for the well-being of our planet and its inhabitants. This goal recognizes the essential role that cities play in driving economic growth, fostering innovation, and providing opportunities for all. Achieving SDG Goal 11 requires our collective action and collaboration among governments, businesses, civil society organizations, and citizens.  As we strive to create sustainable cities and communities, we must consider the significant impact our actions today will have on the world of tomorrow. I am delighted to join Andrew Cameron-Smith and Kunle Barker on the Unlock Net Zero Live Main Stage at Excel, London on Thursday 28th November. This is a vital conversation as we enter the second half of the 'decisive decade' and find ourselves with increasing challenges. They aren't insurmountable and there is enough money in the system, through grants and private investment, to make significant inroads, but the challenge is creating cohesive place-based/community strategies and ensuring holistic, joined-up approaches that ensure community buy-in and co-design, create economic benefits at source and ensure complex multi-stakeholder interventions are sequenced as part of an overarching and comprehensive area plan, not siloes. Anthesis was delighted to sponsor the 2024 Climate Innovation Forum, which took place last week at the historic Guildhall in London, UK. Taking place as part of London Climate Action Week, the event brought together over 1,500 leaders from business, policy, investment, and civil society to accelerate climate action.
