Here are the key highlights: 📍 Project Details -1,100 residential units with 30% designated as income-restricted. -5K SF of commercial space to support the community. -Expected completion: 2030. 💰 Impact and Affordability -A $270M investment contributing to Mayor Andre Dickens’ goal of creating or preserving 20,000 affordable housing units by 2030. Rental units targeted for households earning between $54K and $86K annually (for a family of four). -For-sale units capped for households earning $129K annually, with some units reserved for those making less than 50% of the area median income. 🚶 Community Integration -Strategically located near Maddox Park, the Bankhead MARTA station, the Atlanta BeltLine, and the Proctor Creek Greenway for enhanced connectivity. -Builds on the momentum from Microsoft's plans for a nearby mixed-use campus, even as those plans remain on hold. The BeltLine plans to begin searching for development partners in 2024. Skokie Development Update, Skokie unveils draft plan to revitalize Main Street area, Plan calls for retail, residential, green spaces. After gauging responses from residents near the area of Main Street and Crawford Avenue in Skokie about what they would like to see in the area, which some have described as blighted, the village of Skokie published and presented a draft of a 20-year plan to revitalize the area with local businesses, public spaces, housing and green spaces. Skokie’s Community Development Director Johanna Nyden presented to the Village Board at its Dec. 2 meeting a study and renderings of a reimagined Main Street corridor in Skokie that are designed to foster community in the immediate area. Nyden emphasized that the plan was closer to a vision for the area, and not a concrete plan for redevelopment, but she said that the village does want to take steps that will lead to further development in the area. https://lnkd.in/gcsb_KZP

Thank you Darius Johnson from WBBM | CBS Chicago for featuring our story on the revitalization efforts for West Pullman on Chicago's far south side. By now, we have all heard of the recent closure of the ALDI USA Grocery Store in West Pullman at our Maple Park Marketplace Shopping Center. As heartbreaking as it is, I would like to thank them for anchoring this location for nearly 20 years. And I hope that this a temporary departure as we hope to attract them back to the neighborhood. And that is the point. We must make our communities attractive for private investments, such as grocery stores, entertainment venues, restaurants, etc. I consider Far South Community Development Corporation as an entity that seeks to attract and encourage more investments to Chicago's far south side, primarily along the South Halsted commercial corridor through mixed-use residential developments. We cannot shame industries into coming into this area. We must position ourselves to compete with other areas of the City and suburbs. And this will require the City to invest significantly as it does in more affluent neighborhoods. Creating the residential density is key to increasing retail and entertainment. If it works for LaSalle Street, Hyde Park, and Uptown, then it can work for West Pullman, Roseland, and Washington Heights. Then the question, is there demand? Ask the 200,000 individuals on Chicago Housing Authority waitlist and the thousands of people living in expensive neighborhoods who are currently rent burdened. Chicago's far south side is positioned for population growth as this region of the City is the most affordable with a multitude of amenities, such as two golf courses, a forest preserve, an 8-mile trail leading to the Little Calumet River, Pullman National Park, an International Port District, three public transit options (Metra, CTA, and Pace), and easy access to two major expressways (Bishop Ford and Interstate 57). With strategic investments to improve our education network in this region, this area offers Pre-K to post secondary education with City Colleges of Chicago-Olive-Harvey College and Chicago State University. No more looking at Chicago's far south side as a charity. We are uniquely qualified to compete for both private/ public investments. We have the ability to build both affordable single-family and multifamily housing with residents being able to afford to live and experience the community, which in some of the more expensive neighborhoods residents living in affordable units may not be able to shop or dine in the very building they are living in. Southern Gateway Park is set to transform the Oak Cliff community in Dallas, offering more than five acres of urban green space and amenities. The park, which will span I-35E between Ewing and Marsalis Avenues, is being constructed with the support of JPMorgan Chase, which has committed $750,000 to the project. The park is expected to attract 2 million visitors annually and generate more than $1 billion in economic impact during its first five years. It will include green space, a stage and pavilion for concerts, an inclusive children’s playground, outdoor classroom space for local schools and organizations, a multi-purpose building for dining and community events, integrated history exhibits, a dedicated food truck area and interactive water features. The park is a public-private partnership with the City of Dallas and the Southern Gateway Public Green Foundation, with support from the North Central Texas Council of Governments and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The park is expected to spur economic development, give surrounding residents greater access to amenities and support the well-being of local residents. JPMorgan Chase’s investment in Southern Gateway Park is the latest in the bank’s 150-year history of support in the Dallas-Fort Worth community. The bank has invested more than $40 million to support local workforce training, community revitalization, small business support and entrepreneurship. You can find more information at that same Atlanta for All website. We urge you to speak out for density near all MARTA stations and near the Beltline, for complete neighborhoods with stores (and more) in walkable distances, and for generally pushing back on all things that relate to a continuance of car-centric, suburbs-in-the-city formats. The metro area has much space devoted to car-centric suburbs. We don't need to compete with that in the city. It's a little confusing because the zoning rewrite is a separate project that's happening at the same time. Ideally the CDP would come first and would influence the zoning, but this is the process we have to work with. The comment period for the CDP ends July 7, 2024.

The redevelopment of the historic Kingsbridge Armory in the Bronx marks a transformative moment for the community and New York City.
