Journey on pursuing PhD in Education (Art & Design) with Utar (Sg Long). *** My first semester - I ended sometime in mid-August. Here is the picture with Dr. Carmen. Under her guidance, we needed to submit three mini-essays (our choice of topic selection) and present them to our peers—the essays and topics related to Creativity in Education. My mini-essays titled 1. The Four P’s Framework (Rhodes, 1961): An Overview of a Creativity Model 2. Elevating the Teaching Profession in Malaysia: Insights from the Finnish Education System 3. Implementing John Dewey's Reflective Practice: Strategies for Art Teachers in Secondary School Education *** Now, it is time to polish up my Research Proposal and prepare for the Proposal Defence soon.

#UQ’s ##3MT is really global. I see Graduate students at the Uniformed Services University (#USU) once again battled the clock as they presented their big ideas during the 3 Minute Thesis Competition on April 3. DVIDS News reports (https://lnkd.in/gk2VhV8D): The fast-talking, breakneck-speed competition involved a single static PowerPoint slide and three minutes for each competitor to pitch their best thesis to a panel of judges from mostly non-scientific backgrounds. The competition’s goal is to support Ph.D. students in making their complex ideas understandable to everyone. “This event helps students with learning how to convey knowledge to the public, practice with public speaking, and working on explaining their work,” says … Starting at USU in 2018, the 3 Minute Thesis originally began at the University of Queensland, Australia, in 2008. The competition is now held at universities around the world.

Last week I had the opportunity to speak to Tom Klinkowstein MFA Class at Pratt. Here were my three key take aways: 1) Reality > Fiction Students often get hung up on their work being student work but it can be far more than that. Put your research and ideas out there and you never know what will happen. This is how my thesis work got presented at the AIGA NYC 2023 conference. 2) Trajectory > Location It's not about where you are but where are you going towards. What are you learning in one place that will take you to the next place. Skills? Taste? Process? It all comes together to define your journey towards your goals more than any one place you work. 3) Niches > Trends Make work that is inspiring to you! It being made by you through your lens and a unique insight will provide more interest than hoping on the latest trends. Trends can inform your lens but don't let them define it. #speaking #graphicdesign #mfa #education #nyc #pratt

Our teams have been working on presenting the #project in different settings & countries. At a #congress, in the Global Gallery Award gala hosted by TU Dortmund University, and in #seminars with teachers & sessions with students aiming to co-creating our future #workshops around mainstreaming intersectionality in Higher Education, such as those organized by CEIG UVic-UCC Universitat de Vic – Universitat Central de Catalunya and the Jagiellonian University. All in all, we leave you here some tips that we consider essential to present your project in any of these environments: - First and foremost, build your presentation within time constraints⏱ - Aim for simplicity and consistency: summarize the main objectives, stages and deliverables of your project in clear bullet points so that all audiences might be able to understand them 🖊 - Keep your visuals clean and simple so that they illuminate your point 🖼 - Know your audience so that you don't end up repeating information they know and instead introduce your project enlightening what is innovative about it 📚 - Encourage questions and discussion! It is only by questioning our work and being asked about it that we learn how to improve it! ⁉ #InterHed_EU #InterHEdproject #Erasmusplus #intersectionality #interHEd #InterHEdproject #inequalities #inequality #pedagogy #presentation #project #euproject #mainstreamingintersectionality

📊 This week, our Evaluation Officer Ashley Reilly-Thornton had the opportunity to attend the National Education Opportunities Network (NEON) Access and Summary Academy workshop on using both quantitative and qualitative methods to demonstrate impact! The session covered traditional methods like interviews, questionnaires, and focus groups, as well as creative approaches like observation and participatory photography. These methods can be used solo or in combination to empower participants and showcase innovative research! Ashley states that she "found the training interesting and useful for discussing different perspectives on the benefits of the methods." At Applied Inspiration, we’re excited to bring this knowledge back to our SEER members, helping to develop and implement tailored and impactful evaluations that meet the unique needs of our member institutions and their activities. 💼🤝 #ImpactMeasurement #ResearchInnovation #CommunityEngagement #SEER #InnovationInAction

MPI student Bella Lubinskas recently sat with us to share her 'Words of Wisdom' for current and prospective students. She talked about the importance of creativity, the value of hands-on learning, and the freedom to explore different fields of study. During our conversation, Bella discussed how da Vinci is not a traditional program. Instead, it offers invaluable resources typically associated with conventional higher education and the freedom to explore, create, innovate, and have fun. This freedom is designed to inspire and motivate you. If you resonate with Bella's "Words of Wisdom," we value your interest and encourage you to learn more and apply to our MPI program using this link: https://lnkd.in/eWMm5Kqf
