We recently went to Gibraltar to visit the Gibraltar Football Association where we met the chairman and owner of FC Brunos Magpies. The meeting was followed by a wonderful VIP experience with a guest ticket to FC Brunos Magpies v Derry City Football Club in a Europa Conference League qualifier. We had a great time and met lots of new connections. We are also pleased that Brunos won the 2nd leg and are now through to the next round. We wish them good luck with today’s fixture! Thank you for having us! jos Hoyte-Smith, Dylan Viagas, Aaron Edwards, Gibraltar Football Association, Nathan Rooney and Mason Mcclelland #networking #businessnetwork #Insurance #BeAmagpie

French TOP14 side Toulon have been fined €500,000 for failing to disclose the transfer fee paid to Northampton for Dan Biggar when he was signed in November 2022. Although the club has not breached the TOP14 salary cap, it has been found to have breached the reporting obligations related to the cap. Toulon have indicated that they will appeal and, without knowing the underlying facts, you would imagine that reducing the size of the fine will be the club’s primary objective. Given that the fine exceeds the value of the transfer fee apparently not disclosed, it might well be challenged on grounds of proportionality (although the nature of the failure to disclose will of course be relevant to any sanction).

After three Premiership Rugby clubs went into administration last season with London Irish, Wasps and Worcester Warriors all entering the process the financial turmoils of professional rugby clubs have taken somewhat of a back seat to action on the pitch. Fan bases of the three clubs that went into administration will be hoping that professional rugby returns to their region but for Worcester Warriors fans the situation has become further complicated by the news that its new owner Atlas Worcester Warriors Rugby Club Limited appointed Administrators last week. Atlas initially acquired the business and assets of WRFC Trading Limited in May last year. A pre pack sale of Atlas completed following the Administrators appointment and there still remains a focus on bringing first tier rugby back to Worcester. As for other clubs in the league and professional rugby in England generally the financial struggles do continue. Clubs face losing players to lucrative Top 14 contracts and salary cap restrictions, and although average attendances are increasing marginally, notwithstanding the cost of living crisis and reduced number of fixtures in a season, generating sufficient matchday income and over revenue to create a sustainable business model is extremely difficult when clubs seem to perennially make losses. #insolvency #businessrecovery #restructuring #turnaround #business #rugby #accountant #london

The international break is over and the Premier League returns with a selection of tasty tussles culminating in Tottenham v Arsenal on Sunday. We were mildly more interested in the two England games in the Nations League, due to the fact there’s a new bald-headed boss in town in the shape of Lee Carsley. And although the Three Lions racked up two impressive wins under the interim manager, it still doesn’t get the blood pumping like a Premier League weekend. The Bookie Basher also took a breather while the top flight took a step back, but he’s back from Benidorm and Ibiza, where we shudder to think what shenanigans he got up to. Anyway, those tales of debauchery are for another day - let’s get down to business with some free betting tips for your perusal… Southampton v Manchester United I’ve been on a stag do to Benidorm folks and before that had a week in Ibiza so I’m mega fragile. Indeed Alicante Airport Burger King after a four-day bender will absolutely destroy your conviction in a loving God. But we move on, and there is much to like here in lumping both teams to score. Like many, I am not sold on this current Red Devils team but Southampton have not beaten Manchester United at home since 2003, a simpler time when Avril Lavigne was telling us all it’s ‘Complicated‘. Nothing complicated about the pick here. BTTS reeks of win. Bosh. Suggested Bet: Both teams to score at 13/20 (Ladbrokes). There's more of this kind of magic in the full preview... https://lnkd.in/eMEgZdU4 #tips #bettingtips #freetips #premierleaguetips #tottenhamtips

European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) are set to investigate whether the Bulls may have breached the Champions Cup rules after they sent a "2nd XV" to play Northampton in the quarter-final this weekend. 🏉 The South African side made 13 changes from the round-of-16, leaving a significant number of World Cup winning Springboks at home. 🏆 The Bulls management have cited injuries and long-distance travel issues as the reason for the selection, but the Bulls have been accused of prioritising their home fixture against Munster next weekend, a win in which would guarantee them a home semi-final in the United Rugby Championship. A (publicly available) previous edition of the tournament rules provides that: "Subject to...player rotation within the Tournament squad (exercised in good faith), the reasonable and customary need to rest players, injuries and international call-ups, each Club must field its strongest possible team for each Match in which it competes" Assuming that the current version of the rules contain an equivalent provision, the focus will therefore be on whether the Bulls acted reasonably and/or in good faith, and on the nature of the injuries within the squad. To my knowledge, no team has ever been sanctioned for breaching this rule before (despite there having been several surprising team selections over the years - albeit not in a quarter-final), and any case against the Bulls would not be straightforward. Indeed, it is a situation which highlights the difficulties of involving South African teams in European competition, and the challenges caused by the congested season, pitting player welfare and managerial discretion against commercial interests and sporting integrity. It will be interesting to see how EPCR approaches it. What do you think the outcome should be? 🤔 #sportslaw #rugby #InvestecChampionsCup

Huge game for #Leeds United (and #Norwich City) as they hunt a #playoff #final spot. We know well enough that the #EPL will offer more than £120m of riches to the winner, and reports today suggest Leeds will see plenty of outgoings if they fail in their pursuit to the promised land. Yet the #exclusive from the Daily Mail over cooks the situation in my view. Yes Leeds lost money last year. Yes they will need to be careful with #PSR. Yet the receive plenty by way of those dreadful #parachute #payments and I can’t see a fire sale being necessary. Not for them, or Norwich this summer. The bigger question is how on earth did the likes of Leeds, and Southampton fail to gain automatic promotion? Their parachute money made them three times more likely to progress back to the premier league than their #EFL Championship counterparts! Understanding the detail behind the PSR calculation is crucial and regulation should influence the direction of travel for any senior leader in professional football. Jamal Lowe Attracting Interest As He Nears End Of Loan https://ift.tt/HhiqJXV Jamal Lowe, who is currently on loan at Swansea City, is attracting interest from several clubs ahead of a big summer for the attacker, according to the Boot Room. We’ve got the latest Lowe transfer news. Lowe joined the Welsh side last summer on loan from Premier League side, Bournemouth. His deal with the Cherries is set to expire this summer, and numerous clubs are keen on signing the Jamaican international. How has he done this season? The attacker has nine goals and three assists in 34 Championship games this season, making it 39 goals in a total of 185 Championship games. These goals have attracted interest from newly promoted Derby County and Portsmouth. He’s offered Swansea City a useful attacking option, able to play through the middle or out wide. This versatility is a big part of why teams are interested in him. Lowe transfer news – Who wants to sign him? This summer is set to be a busy one for him, with the Lowe transfer news suggesting several clubs are keen to talk to him. Along with Derby County and Portsmouth, Ipswich Town, Norwich City, Middlesbrough, Millwall, Watford, and Swansea City are keeping tabs on him. With the transfer window yet to open, it’s expected other clubs will join the race to sign Lowe on a free transfer this summer. Where will Lowe end up? Lowe’s going to have plenty of options, all of which he’ll need to carefully consider. He’s currently on loan with Swansea City, a team he has played for before this season as well. However, a permanent deal appears to be difficult for Swansea to pull off based on recent comments by their manager, Luke Williams. He told the Daily Echo: “I think it’s going to be difficult because Jamal is on a Premier League salary. That could be a real issue. “Jamal’s contract in his first spell here was probably when the club were still working almost on a Premier League budget. Then he went on (to Cherries) still on a Premier League level. “But this club is no longer operating at that level. I think we have to be clear about what it’s going to look like if we are going to do anything at all.” Another one of Lowe’s former clubs, Portsmouth, are rumoured to be interested in re-signing him. Lowe was at Fratton Park for three years and is fondly remembered by the Pompey fans. A move back there, with the side now in the Championship, could be attractive to Lowe. With Ipswich Town also interested, Lowe has the possibility of Premier League football. The Tractor Boys have one foot in the Premier League and have their fate in their own hands. If they do get promoted, Lowe might be keen to join them and add to his two Premier League appearances.
The post Jamal Lowe Attracting Interest As He Nears End Of Loan first appeared on The Deck.
Josh Stedman Read More At Look Sports Media
