The top jobs employees are quitting are predominantly those in the healthcare and technology sector, according to Payscale’s 2023 End-of-Year Job Market Report. According to the report, the most-quit jobs “represent occupations where employees are stressed, under-challenged, burned out, or unhappy with their pay and benefits compared to what they think they can get elsewhere.” Another big factor causing dissatisfaction is a lack of work-life balance. When jobs transitioned from remote to in-office last year, some employees called it quits. (via GOBankingRates) #jobtrends #employmentnews #quitting

#The_untold_danger_of_underemployment: Let's start by understanding what it's all about. Underemployment refers to a situation in which individuals are working but are not utilizing their skills, education, or experience to the fullest extent. This can manifest in several ways, including: 1. Part-time Work: Individuals working part-time when they desire full-time employment. 2. Job Mismatches: Workers are in jobs that do not match their qualifications or skills. For example, a person with a college degree working in a low-skilled job. 3. Skills Underutilization: Individuals may be employed but are not able to use their full range of abilities or knowledge in their current positions. Underemployment can lead to lower job satisfaction, reduced income potential, and a feeling of unfulfilled professional aspirations. It is often a significant issue in economies with high unemployment rates or where there is a mismatch between the skills available in the workforce and those demanded by employers.

May is #OlderAmericansMonth in the US. Let’s use this opportunity to send a message to #CareerOneStop Centers and other #workforce development boards and associations. In the US, these are funded by the Department of Labor, businesses and state governments. These agencies should all be supporting #olderworkers, the fastest growing segment of the workforce. They need training to keep up their skills and develop new ones to stay competitive, just like everyone else. Unfortunately, the pickings are slim. This bias against people over 50 should end. Tell them you want: > More skills training for workers and job seekers over age 50 > Priority given to job search support for people over 50 > Programs to support self-employment options for those open to that path Find your Career One-Stop Center here: https://lnkd.in/e8aNqmHk. Why are we less likely to find employment after becoming a parent and being the primary carer who is then seeking part-time employment? It doesn’t change or lessen your skill set, but it definitely increases your multitasking and time-management skills. It doesn’t make you less likely to be productive, it makes you more productive than before. It doesn’t make you less likely to be a good fit, or underperform. After becoming a parent it shouldn’t be a big deal or a struggle to find work to fit around our families. It’s 2024!
