Remember that time as a kid when you'd laugh at the idea of someone accidentally agreeing to give away their house just because they clicked "I agree" without reading the terms and conditions? Well, turns out, that's not so far-fetched anymore. In today's digital world, we're constantly bombarded with legalese. We often skim through it, or worse, click "I agree" without a second thought. But these documents hold immense power. They can grant companies access to our personal data, which can be used for everything from targeted advertising to training AI models. Speaking of AI, it's a powerful tool that has the potential to revolutionize our lives. But like any tool or product, it can be misused. If not developed and used responsibly, AI can perpetuate biases, invade our privacy, and even pose a threat to our safety. Here's the thing: Did you know LinkedIn uses your data to train AI models by default? It's already happening! Unless you take action to opt-out, you're giving LinkedIn the green light to use your professional profile and network to build the next generation of AI. On a privacy note: LinkedIn has set a default opt-in policy for training on your data. Think about it – your skills, experience, and connections could all be feeding into AI development. Here's what you can do: Take control of your data! Head over to LinkedIn's settings and opt-out of their data-for-improvement program if you want to: https://lnkd.in/ggtCHx4u I haven't opted out of this option myself, as I've made a conscious decision to allow my data to contribute to AI development. However, I believe it's important to inform others about this choice. Everyone should have the opportunity to make an informed decision about their own data privacy. So, let's be more mindful and take the time to understand what we're agreeing to. Let's demand transparency from companies and hold them accountable for how they use our data. And most importantly, let's use AI as a force for good, a tool that enhances our lives rather than threatens them. Remember, the future is in our hands. What everyone knows: LinkedIn is training it's own AI model What everyone knows but chooses to ignore: LinkedIn is training it's own AI using your personal data LinkedIn silently introduced a toggle button that is by default switched on. If you don't switch it off, LinkedIn can use all your personal data to train it's AI model.
