Recent events in Southport have left our community reeling. In the face of these challenges, it’s more important than ever that we come together as one to navigate these turbulent times and emerge stronger. In the aftermath of these challenges, we have seen glimpses of the incredible spirit that defines Southport. Neighbors helping neighbors, local businesses stepping up, and community organisations providing support – these acts of kindness and solidarity are what give us hope. Yet, to fully overcome the obstacles we face, we need to build on this spirit and work together more than ever before. Coming together as one means more than just offering support; it means actively participating in rebuilding and revitalizing our community. It involves open communication, shared resources, and a collective commitment to each other’s well-being. Whether it’s volunteering time, donating resources, or simply offering a listening ear, every effort counts. Our strength lies in our diversity and our ability to unite for a common cause. As we move forward, let’s remember that our individual actions contribute to a greater whole. By fostering a spirit of cooperation and understanding, we can address the challenges head-on and build a resilient Southport that stands as a beacon of hope and solidarity. In the coming weeks, there will be numerous opportunities for us to come together, whether through community meetings, local events, or support initiatives. Let’s seize these opportunities to strengthen our bonds and work towards a brighter future. Together, we can turn these challenging times into a testament to our collective strength and resolve. Southport has always been a place where people care for one another. Let’s reaffirm that commitment and continue to support each other with the same spirit of unity and compassion that defines our community.

Co-funding unlocked over $2.3 million for our community! Learn how we increased our leveraged funds by 204%. Many funders have big hearts and even bigger wishlists. It's a classic case of "want to do more, with less." But what if there was a way to amplify your impact and achieve more together? Enter the power of co-funded projects! By collaborating with other funders, we can: ➡️ Leverage our resources - Pooling funds allows us to support larger, more ambitious projects that would be impossible to fund individually. For example, imagine "The Dirt Diggers," a community gardening group, who dreamed of building a community garden. By partnering with their local service club, community bank, and council, they raised $15,000. This strong local foundation helped them secure a $50,000 state government grant, demonstrating the power of collective community action. ➡️ Increase our reach - Combine our networks to reach a wider audience and impact more beneficiaries. ➡️ Reduce risk - Share the financial burden and mitigate potential challenges. ➡️ Foster innovation - Encourage creative solutions and explore new approaches to addressing community needs. Recently, we increased our leveraged funds by a remarkable 204%, from $700,000 to over $2.3 million. This was achieved through strategic partnerships and co-funded projects, demonstrating the incredible power of collaboration. I'd love to connect with other funders who are passionate about maximizing their impact. Let's discuss how we can leverage the power of co-funding to make a real difference in our community together. #cofunding #collaborate #communityimpact #leveragedfunding #philanthropy

It feels good to wrap up such an impactful year at Catalytic Communities! This was a year during which our increasingly historic work supporting Rio de Janeiro's favelas reached a new level of cross-cutting influence and recognition. Today, our three strategic programs, the result of these decades of co-creation with our favela partners, are RioOnWatch, the Sustainable Favela Network and the Favela Community Land Trust Program. Three times a year we publish a 4-month e-newsletter, compiling all of the activities across programs undertaken during that period, color-coded so you can quickly identify the section most relevant to you. Please find our latest, very exciting, summary below. Note that these newsletters are getting denser with each passing year, since our deliberative, slow-build, and generative approach inspires increasing waves of impact from year to year. So please take the time to explore the areas that interest you. And finally, as we close out another annual cycle, please don't forget to make your annual contribution, if you haven't already. CatComm's ability to deliver depends on a healthy mix of support to realize so much, and it is our individual donors—you—who guarantee our responsiveness to favela partners, our ability to assist them as they face opportunities and challenges, and during critical transitions, allows us to stay on course! All donation amounts make a real difference! YOU are an essential part of this story! Donate Today. (PayPal is also available for USD, GBP and BRL donations.) Please read on for a deep-dive into all these exciting efforts: bit.ly/CatCommNewsV3i3 I wish you a happy, healthy, abundant, and balanced 2025!!! 💫
