I've been experimenting with Google's NotebookLM and I'm amazed by its capabilities, especially in generating podcasts. I uploaded the syllabus for my management module from the MA in Cultural Policy & Arts Management, and it quickly produced an eight-minute podcast featuring two 'people' having a coherent discussion about the key elements of the module. It's really impressive! (I don't expect you to listen to the entire thing—eight minutes is quite long, and there isn't an 'edit' function yet.) Still, this is credible work, and the potential applications are vast. From a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) perspective, the possibilities are truly exciting. Stop what you're doing, and check out Google's NotebookLM. This is one of the most incredible and clean applications of Generative AI I've seen to date. NotebookLM allows you to upload documents and files, and generate a full audio podcast deepdive (!!!!!), as well as ask questions and chat with the content. If you're like me, you learn and stay up to date with audio books and podcasts. Now you can turn your favorite textbooks, research papers, industry dives and more into an AI enhanced deep dive. An Amazing Recap of My Video Mojo Convos on Creativity & AI A fresh take... well, actually a summarized podcast-style conversation, audio overview of my Video Mojo podcast conversations with marketers, journalists, and video producers about AI & Creativity. To create the AI-generated human-sounding 9-minute audio conversation linked below, I used a Google tool called NotebookLM. I gave it the YouTube URL's of 9 of my video conversations from my Video Mojo video podcast and of one webinar I gave on creativity and AI, and it generated this remarkable audio conversation called an Audio Overview. What you'll hear encapsulates roughly five hours of recorded material. I especially like the conclusion. It sounds so much like what I have to say! 🙂 #NotebookLM is a sensational, valuable, and mind-blowing tool. I highly recommend it. Saw Roy Katz’s post on Google’s newest AI tool, #NotebookLM, where he turned a blog into a podcast. Naturally, I thought, “𝐼 𝑔𝑜𝑡𝑡𝑎 𝑡𝑟𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡!” So, I headed over to the Endor Labs website, grabbed our Updates and Remediations blog (𝑠𝑢𝑝𝑒𝑟 𝑐𝑜𝑜𝑙 𝑓𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒𝑠 𝑏𝑡𝑤), and went all in on making it a podcast. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞: - The UI? Not the most user-friendly—lots going on, hard to know where to click. - It did convert the blog into audio, and that was pretty cool, but the conversation felt… a bit disjointed. One minute a speaker’s diving deep into tech, and the next, they’re asking a question that contradicts everything they just explained. 🤔 - The transcript didn’t quite nail what was said, either. It would be awesome if we could edit the text and alter the audio. - The voices are good, but can we get some more voice options, please? Don’t get me wrong, it’s a solid concept—I mean, turning blogs into podcasts? Who wouldn’t love that! And I get it, converting technical topics into digestible content is a whole other beast. But here’s hoping they iron out those kinks before we’re all rushing toward this tool like it’s the last parking spot at a crowded mall on a Saturday! Just tried out Google NotebookLM and it’s blown my mind! 😳 It turned a handful of our company documents into a podcast. Hearing our docs narrated like a conversational audio book is both thrilling and a tiny bit spooky. I’m not sure if this is the future of documents or just a cool party trick, but I definitely recommend giving it a spin. Here’s a snippet of what the AI created for us. 🎧 Randomly, the AI even picked up and discussed WeGetDesign’s partnership with Flusk. You should also hear the stuff about #lowcode and how the AI podcasters dived into Bubble.
