Recently, I facilitated a memorable session with a group of brilliant interns at Nestoil Limited, a member of the Obijackson Group. I took them on professional work ethics, alignment with organizational culture, self-leadership, and the habits of self-leaders, as well as emotional intelligence. Through these, they were equipped with essential skills such as time management, teamwork, and communication, in addition to integrity, for personal and professional growth and success. They were also exposed to Nestoil's corporate culture, its values, norms, and expectations, which are essential for a cohesive and productive work environment. These skills are crucial for personal development, relationship building, and navigating professional challenges.
The internship programme was designed to be an opportunity for the participants to gain invaluable firsthand experience and learn from a world-class organization. It was a platform for them to apply some of the theoretical knowledge gained in school to real-world scenarios within the oil and gas industry and beyond. By interacting with experts in various fields, they gained insights into industry-specific practices, challenges, and innovations. They also acquired the most important soft skills that will make them leaders and role models in every setting.
I am very excited about the brilliance and enthusiasm demonstrated by the interns during the session, which underscore their potential as future leaders. Their ability to engage and apply learning reflects positively on the effectiveness of the internship programme and the calibre of talent being nurtured at Nestoil.
The interns also had the opportunity to meet the amiable GMD and founder of Obijackson Group, Dr Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi, O.F.R, who took us all down memory lane to the very humble and tortuous beginnings of the company and how sheer persistence, focus, discipline, and an unquenchable hunger for success kept the fire aglow and birthed the multinational behemoth that we can all see today.
Overall, the internship programme at Nestoil Limited offers a unique and impactful learning experience for Nigerian undergraduates ready to be part of its pool of exceptional talent while contributing to the oil and gas sector and broader community development. It benefits both the interns and the company's vision, corporate image, diversity, inclusion, and equity goals. I recommend it unreservedly.
