"Milton Keynes roundabouts helped me with Formula 1... The hairpin in Monaco is tighter than most roundabouts in Milton Keynes." These words by Liam Lawson really struck me. It's frightening to hear that the design of some UK roads can make drivers see the tarmac as a literal racetrack to speed on, and not as an integral part of the public realm. This really proves that the width, radii, surface material, and speed of roads can have a massive impact upon their use. If Milton Keynes' roundabouts have a larger radius than Monaco's, then we clearly have a real problem on our hands. Roads should not equal racing. Convenience should not equal car-crashes or catastrophe. #feinsider #nissanproud #nissanemployee Know about Formula E (post-2) Practice, qualifying and the race is scheduled mostly over one day Unlike other championships that spread themselves over three days, most of the Formula E schedule takes place on race day. There’s one half an hour practice on Friday evenings for teams, just to get a feel for the tracks we race on, but all the big moments happen on race day which is often a Saturday or Sunday. You might think, that’s a lot to pack into one day, and you’d be right! A second practice session is slotted in for the morning, which is followed by qualifying and then the race. In between sessions, there are also various track activities, medical inspections as well as drivers having commitments like debriefs and autograph sessions for the fans. There’s no denying race day is a busy one, but if you’re on the ground at the race it means that there’s always something to see or do! Formula E started with 2 races in the US 10 years ago (Long Beach & Miami). Formula E's CEO has just hinted 2 races in the US are again the target for the 2026 calendar. "My view has always been the US needs more than one race," stated FE's CEO. "It needs at least two, maybe more than that. The good news is we have a lot of American cities that are interested in putting on a race. If you look at the US, probably 20 [cities could host Formula E]... New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, Detroit, Phoenix, Dallas, you go on and on... There are so many big cities that have motorsport heritage that could sustain a race." https://lnkd.in/eB_m2NV2
