Abu Dhabi and Dubai Named Top Livable Cities in the Middle East and Africa Abu Dhabi was ranked the most livable city in the Middle East and Africa for 2024, followed by Dubai, according to the Global Liveability Index. Both cities made significant gains in healthcare and education. According to the Numbeo website's Crime and Safety Indexes, Abu Dhabi was the safest city globally, scoring highest on the Safety Index and lowest on the Crime Index, while Dubai was ranked fifth for safety. The index noted that eight of the top ten cities in the region are in Gulf countries, which are influential and economically robust. Kuwait City, Doha, and Bahrain ranked third, fourth, and fifth, respectively. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is a major economic force that attracts global talent and investment. 🌟 Enhancing the Quality of Life in Dubai: Costs of Living and Means of Entertainment 🌟 Hello LinkedIn Family, It is an entirely different story in Dubai: the skyline is unique, the multicultural experiences are unbeatable, and the opportunities are limitless. Life in Dubai is bound to be altogether different; yet, as the city continues to grow, it needs some critical attention regarding the high costs of living and the demand for more variety in entertainment. 🎯 Here's a Solution I Believe Can Make a Difference: **Affordable Housing Efforts:** - Develop several of the more affordable housing projects throughout the city. - Encourage developers to have affordable units within their development. - Encourage public-private partnerships for financing and operation of low-rent housing solutions. **Subsidized Essential Services:** - Introduce subsidies for citizens for critical essential services such as education and health to reduce the financial overload. - Tax credits or other tax-related incentives could be given to businesses that offer affordable pricing on necessities. **Diversify Entertainment Options:** - Build additional public parks, community centers, and cultural halls open for all. - Support local arts and entertainment sectors to offer a variety of affordable events and activities. - Construct family-friendly leisure parks and free public events so everyone can afford to spend their free time without creating a big hole in their pocket. **Public Transportation and Accessibility:** - Scale up and enhance public transport for more accessible, more affordable commuting.  - Implement more walk- and bike-friendly infrastructure to encourage walking and cycling as viable means. **Community Engagement and Support:** - Implement community programs that provide support and material resources to those struggling with the high cost of living.  - Encourage schemes and initiatives that promote local businesses to offer discounts and loyalty schemes for the community. Win-win for UAE with Abu Dhabi and Dubai being the 1 and 2. No surprises really and having lived in both can't fault the Economist Intelligence: EIU methodology. Will be interesting to see where the come globally.
