🔍 AI for Gold Exploration - Could RadiXplore Have Unveiled Boddington Gold Mine in the 80s? Boddington Gold Mine, nestled in Western Australia and currently under Newmont Australia's ownership, stands tall as the largest operational gold mine Down Under, boasting a rich history of yielding millions of ounces of gold since its discovery in 1986. But what if RadiXplore had been at work back in the 80s? Could it have pinpointed this treasure trove? The gold model defining Boddington aligns with a reduced intrusion-related gold system. Notably, predecessors like the Homestake Mine in South Dakota (1876), USA, and the Giant Mine in Yellowknife, Canada (1948), share this geological blueprint. Imagine using RadiXplore's Year Filter to rewind to the 80s and sift through reports specifically targeting reduced intrusion-related gold systems. Could it have zeroed in on Boddington? Picture the analog: Mafic Schists or Felsic volcanics subjected to shearing and alteration by hydrothermal fluids, with gold dispersed within. Key gold-bearing minerals like pyrite, chalcopyrite, and arsenopyrite characterize these formations. Now, inserting this analog into NerdSearch reveals a heatmap pinpointing analogs within historical reports from the 80s, elegantly displayed as a heatmap. Boddington Mine emerges prominently, identified through the lens of reduced intrusion-related gold systems within core and sample descriptions from the 80s. The question lingers: Could other latent hotspots harbor another Boddington-like discovery, waiting to be unearthed within historical data? Curious to explore further? Sign up for free on our website and embark on your own journey of discovery. 🌟 #GoldExploration #RadiXplore #UncoveringTreasures #radixploreusecase #radixploremining Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety

Excuse the pun, we couldn't help ourselves! Coal mines need geologist. Geologists play a critical role in identifying and evaluating coal deposits. Their expertise helps guide exploration, ensuring that we locate coal-rich areas efficiently. Through advanced techniques like seismic surveys, drilling samples, and analyzing rock layers, geologists assess the quality and quantity of coal before mining begins. They also provide insights into the geology of the mine site, helping to determine the safest and most effective extraction methods. Without geologists, coal mining wouldn’t be as precise or sustainable. #Geology #CoalExploration #BroncoMine

Nugget Effect: What It Means for Mining and 3D Modelling Accuracy Have you ever heard of the nugget effect? No, it’s not about finding a nugget of gold in your backyard (though that would certainly be nice). In mining, the nugget effect refers to the small-scale variability in mineral content that complicates resource estimation, particularly in 3D geological modelling. But what exactly is it, and why does it matter? Understanding the Nugget Effect The nugget effect is characterized by abrupt changes in mineral concentrations over very short distances. To visualize it, think about baking chocolate chip cookies. Some bites are loaded with chocolate chips, while others are nearly devoid of them. This inconsistency, where random high-grade spots are surrounded by lower grade areas, is a perfect analogy for what geologists encounter in the field. Impact on Mining Operations This phenomenon presents significant challenges for mining. If the nugget effect is pronounced, even drill holes that are only a few meters apart can yield drastically different results. This variability makes it challenging to accurately estimate the orebody's true composition, which can lead to overestimations or underestimations of resources. And let’s face it, nobody wants to overestimate gold reserves; it can lead to serious disappointments and financial losses. Geostatistics to the Rescue So how do we manage the nugget effect? This is where geostatistics comes into play. By employing geostatistical methods, we can better understand the nugget effect and adjust our models to reflect these small-scale fluctuations. Understanding the nugget effect is crucial for making informed drilling decisions and reducing unexpected surprises in resource estimates. In mining, you want precise forecasts, not just lucky nuggets scattered throughout the deposit. So, the next time you’re analyzing mineral content, remember: it’s not just about the gold; it’s about the science that underpins the discovery. #Geology #MineGeology #Mining #ResourceEstimation #Geostatistics #GeologicalModeling

On October 25, the 20th China Coal & Mining Expo was held in Beijing. The exhibition was sponsored by China National Coal Industry Association with the theme of "Intelligence Leads the Future, Green Sharing Development". At the exhibition, CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute (Group) Co., Ltd. released the "Nieshi" transparent geological expert (TIM-Pro) system platform. "Nieshi" transparent geological expert is a professional-level transparent geological security platform with full independent property rights independently developed by Xi'an Research Institute, which is the first case in the coal industry. Based on "spatio-temporal perception + transparent geology + professional application", relying on the comprehensive strength of Xi'an Research Institute in geology, hydrology, drilling and geophysical prospecting, the platform has built a digital base for intelligent coal mine "holographic geological map" and a three-level geological support system of "mining area-shaft-working face", realizing the three-level leap from "digitalization", "transparency" to "intelligence" of the coal mine geological support system. "The system has the functions of coal mine geological survey, water control, gas geology, fire prevention and extinguishing, dynamic reserve management, geological prediction and forecast, transparent mining, tunneling, etc. It can accurately and intuitively express the position, shape and extension characteristics of coal mine faults and other structures; It can support different scenario applications such as intelligent mining, intelligent tunneling, disaster early warning and 3D reserve management, forming a new platform-based, standardized and process-oriented operation mode and idea of 'mine geology-transparent geological security system-excavation production', thus realizing the upgrading of geological security from 'assistant production' to 'production guarantee'." It is reported that the "Nieshi" Transparent Geological Expert (TIM-Pro) system has been successfully applied in Wuhai Mining Area, Huangling Mining Area, Chenghe Mining Area, Huaihe Energy and other areas, with remarkable effects on transparency of hidden disaster-causing factors of water disasters, dynamic early warning of water disasters, three-dimensional visual control of full-space water disaster prevention projects, intelligent control of mine water disasters, etc. #drilling #coal #coalmining #mining #geology #exploration #miningindustry #coal
